what's the deal with him?
I thought he looked so great last year and I haven't seen him at all so far this year. Is he hurt, or did he just get buried on the depth chart?

I've been wondering that myself. I think there's one main factor though: Teondre Williams. Dude is TEARING it up so far & taken his game to another level.

yeah, but even still I think he should get at least SOME minutes. Even E.J. Singler is getting a good amount of minutes.

Kinda tough though since we have so much depth. Coach is really dumb for not redshirting guys last year... Or even this year with EJ for that matter. Now we have so much talent all in like 2 years. Teondre, Hump, Wiley were all good redshirt candidates last year. I'm surprised not one was redshirted. And EJ this year should have been redshirted, but oh well.

EJ didn't want to redshirt. I'm glad Kent didn't make him. It's never good to have guys unhappy for an entire season.

Completely agree. The fact that we have 8 sophmores with none on track to RS is just ridiculous. What are we gonna do when they all graduate? Have an excuse filled 5-25 year again?

Kent seems to gear up for these 1-2 year runs where the team is just loaded but he keeps no eye on the future. That's the only thing that keeps him around & its just too bad the program has to be run that way. Inconsistent & built for these runs every 4 years. It's becoming obvious that its's not just coincidence... It's how he's running this program!

I agree it is a tough situation, but:

If you coach P10 Basketball or Football, you'd be a fool to coach for the future. Sure, maybe Lute Olsen or Petey at USC could get away with it for a short time but not many people can bank on tomorrow. Even Petey is having to answer some tough questions already because he has only won 6 or 7 P10 titles in a row.

Yeah I understand that duckz. I wouldn't want him to coach for the future, that rarely works out. What I'm saying is, he doesn't even prepare for the future. Like he doesn't even care. Just win today & who cares that next years team will suck & go 5-25. It's obvious by how he's completely disregarded the fact that we have EIGHT guys in the same class & hasn't tried to redshirt anyone. Just win this season & save your job, i guess.

But because of Ernie Kent's failure to redhisrt players, guys like Wiley, Crittle, Hump might rarely see the floor for the rest of their careers.

What did playing all those guys last year help us anyway? We knew we were gonna be bad last season, yet he still failed to redshirt any players. Kent is bad at everything but recruiting.

i think we'll see more of humphrey and crittle later on in the year. Kent has said players not seeing a lot of time now could be deep in the mix a month from now. i just think hump and crittles progression and perhaps effort at this point isn't the best and they just need to get out of that funk. as far as redshirting, i felt wiley should have been the only player redshirted this year. but in reality, you don't see many redshirts on any teams (medical mostly).

Fans and administration are tired of the inconsistency so he isn't going to be able to get away with it any longer. If he doesn't put together a few good years he will be gone. They don't build a $250+ million dollar arena for a team to have 2 good years then a couple bad years and go through the same cycle over and over again. With the money and support and talent this team receives year in and year out they should be one of the top teams in the conference every year and make the tournament just about every year, simple as that. The Ducks are not going to be like the Dukes, North Carolina's, Kansas's, Kentucky's, etc. but they should be better and more consistent then they are. I personally think he will be gone once his contract is up unless they make a deep tournament run each of the last years of his contract. I think Kent is kinda like Petey at USC he is a good recruiter and surrounds himself with good coaches but he is not an X's and O's coach and that hurts the team which is very evident at times.

I believe that after this season, because of the mismanagement of this sophomore class, you will see at least two guys transfer. Whomever gets buried in the depth chart this season and does not play has to be thinking that it is going to be very difficult to get a starting position back. Especially with only 3 players graduating in the next two seasons. I hope I am wrong, but suspect that won't be.

He isn't playing as much because the team has more depth this year. Williams has stepped it up, Wilson, Singler, Armstead and Jacob are here. etc. It's unfortunate some of these guys had to play last season, but a few had to for various reasons.

Williams was set back last year with nagging injuries and didn't play much. Jamal Wilson is the real deal and will probably be the best player on the team by mid season. This would have been a great year to redshirt Humphrey. I like the kids game, but he needs to add some weight to his frame.
