He seemed to be the heir apparent to Thibs, but also seemed to regress. Was he pushed?

Soon enough it might be easier to make a list of who doesn't enter the portal.

Swinson seemed to not fit the new scheme well. Not stout enough to set an edge. Like Adrian Jackson, I think he'll find a home somewhere as a pass-rush specialist.

2023 Transfer Portal

Post by dthomas=ddixon »

I’m honestly hoping we see a lot of our defensive guys hit the portal. Previous staff missed on a lot of their evals and a lot of them just don’t have the skill set for the new system.

Just asking, did you think DJ set a good edge? Funa? The Ducks are now empty on the DE/large strong side LB, if Funa leaves.

They've got 3 edge guys in the recruiting class and I'm sure they'll be hitting the portal hard for more.

Physically, both guys are a yes. They each also got much better after the game against Georgia where they seemingly didn't know what their assignment was. Funa isn't what you draw up, but the guy is stout.

I wonder about Terrell Tilmon and Brandon Buckner.

EXACTLY and previous staff whiffed big time on a lot of guys. I was admonished a couple of years ago when I said Salavea was not a good recruiter but IMO we saw the repercussions of that this year and last year.

He left before the season started.
