EXACTLY and previous staff whiffed big time on a lot of guys. I was admonished a couple of years ago when I said Salavea was not a good recruiter but IMO we saw the repercussions of that this year and last year.

I think most realized Big Joe wasn’t a good recruit when he lost out on Ika, a family friend, not once, but twice.

Agree. Just was recalling that a few posters thought I was not giving him a chance but it definetly seemed like there was an alarming trend.

I certainly think Joe is a really good person just don't think he's a good coach.

It’s every level of our defense though, not just the line. Joe’s interior guys (Popo, Dorlus) are actually some of the best on the team. Just look at our 2-deep, minus the transfers. Our LBs/edge players are severely underperforming, our corners are basically safeties trying to play corner, and our safeties are just not very good.

How many of those guys are even going to play in the NFL, let alone be 1st, 2nd, or 3rd rounders? The talent level is really low for a team contending for the CFP.

I think Big Joe is a good to above average coach/developer of talent, but subpar recruiter.

Just a perspective, I started watching college football with my dad in the mid 60’s, how the portal and NIL has changed the rosters and recruiting. I know duh! Lol.
