Yeah, that doesn't make much sense. As far as I'm concerned, Oregon doesn't need a qb in this class if they don't get Boyd. This isn't good news. The coaches must be worried about losing Boyd.

Could be, but could be a motivational tool for Boyd as well. Offering a committed kid seems like a safe play on Oregon's part.

More info that points to Boyd probably not coming to Oregon (unless Herring was offered to replace a QB they know is transferring).

Kid is 6'4" - 180 lbs. Maybe he can catch the ball, I see nothing in relation to fear on losing Boyd or another qb.

I find all of this QB drama kind of comical. I distinctly remember a ton of folks all asking why the heck we offered a 5' 10" JR college transfter a scholli as QB. Made no since at the time to most of us brilliant fans. Now we hail the coaches as genious when we think of Masoli as a Duck. Hmmmm. In CK we must trust.

Funny thing, last year everyone was blowin gaskets that we didn't end up with Pryor, and then we pick up some JC QB that no one knew anything about and wasn't hyped at all. The kid is still dogged as nothing better than a 5th stringer, but eventually ends up being our QB, and is still bashed on till late in the season. Now everyone is thankful we have Masoli and have to try hard to imagine him being unthroned as #1 through his senior year.

It'll all work out in the end. In fact, you'll likely forget how "highly-rated" each player was, as you cheer them to Duck wins in the years to come.

I don't think any of us will forget Pryor or Boyd(if he goes elsewhere). It's nice to try and justify why we don't need him, but the bottom line is that Boyd could be the difference as to whether this team gets to a bcs game or even a national championship.

Duckgrad, you honestly feel we NEED Boyd? And you're saying the bottom line is a QB "could" single-handedly take us to a BCS or national championship?

Everyone will be very happy to see Boyd join the flock. But he needs surgery on his knee and then needs to prove himself at the college level. Costa has a ton of potential to be a contributing teammate for a successful Ducks season, but has that ever materialized?

No one player will make or break a teams success.

Tell that to Dennis Dixon in his senior season. Do we need Boyd? No, but you don't just forget about someone that is as highly regarded and talented as him either. I do think Thomas will do well for us.
