Our republic will be fine if we refuse to stand for attacks on our democratic systems.
People have challenged elections since the dawn of America.pezsez1 wrote:Or we could stop making tribalism-fueled excuses for dipshits who try to steal elections.
Well the first time you care about Democrats being bad actors will be the first - which is why you still don't understand why so many American's don't care about these low-level, slap on the wrist style "crimes." (Not for being a war-criminal or for Kushner/Ivanka directly profiting from his actions while POTUS because then they'd have to equally apply that standard!)pezsez1 wrote: I get the feeling this, like everything else, will get a pass from so many of Trump's fans. These aren't slap on the wrist crimes dude. He could serve over 300 years in jail in convicted on all the differing charges presented.Duck07 wrote:Well the first time you care about Democrats being bad actors will be the first - which is why you still don't understand why so many American's don't care about these low-level, slap on the wrist style "crimes." Multiple, corrupt administrations but sure, its the orange man alone who represents the existential threat.
What I mean by that is they aren't charging him with major crimes, but minor, process style charges, which is also why it feeds into the "political prosecution" narrative that his supporters have because we've seen 3 consecutive administrations lock children in cages and a civilian kill rate of 90% with drone-strikes, but taking boxes of files as POTUS (but not as VP) is considered over the line.dd10snoop28 wrote: These aren't slap on the wrist crimes dude. Honest question: do you believe that orange man is on the same level of corruption as Obama/Clinton(s)/Bush/Biden?Duck07 wrote:What I mean by that is they aren't charging him with major crimes, but minor, process style charges, which is also why it feeds into the "political prosecution" narrative that his supporters have because we've seen 3 consecutive administrations lock children in cages and a civilian kill rate of 90% with drone-strikes, but taking boxes of files as POTUS (but not as VP) is considered over the line.dd10snoop28 wrote: These aren't slap on the wrist crimes dude. On the same level, No, because those individuals had a better knowledge of how the system worked. For example, most think of Congress as taking bribes for re-election funds as the problem rather than the EXTORTION they use for those campaigns by holding things up in committee.dd10snoop28 wrote:Honest question: do you believe that orange man is on the same level of corruption as Obama/Clinton(s)/Bush/Duck07 wrote:What I mean by that is they aren't charging him with major crimes, but minor, process style charges, which is also why it feeds into the "political prosecution" narrative that his supporters have because we've seen 3 consecutive administrations lock children in cages and a civilian kill rate of 90% with drone-strikes, but taking boxes of files as POTUS (but not as VP) is considered over the line.dd10snoop28 wrote: These aren't slap on the wrist crimes dude. You are framing it as if it's only Trump's supporters that see this as a political prosecution. Well, isn't it a problem if it's only his supporters that care?
Yes, my point is that it is a problem that I don't hear from anyone except the former president's supporter ...Like, for example.... I would expect someone like you to be even more vested in this than a zealous supporter of the former president because I assume you understand the long-term implications. I say long-term, but actually, I think are days are numbered a lot sooner than "long-term".Duck07 wrote:On the same level, No, because those individuals had a better knowledge of how the system worked. In regard to pure corruption, Pelosi probably takes the cake just from the sheer wealth that's been created. On a relativity scale, the money that Kusner made from the Saudi Wealth Fund was likely not even worth the heat from it because its a pittance compared to their other revenue streams.
As for the political prosecution, the larger problem is that we've reached this point, not just if one side views it unfavorably or not because of what the consequences could be. At the same time there is a seemingly equal group of people who share Pez's view that these indictments against Trump for minor-level things are in fact a good thing. That doesn't lead to some unification of people but a fracturing.
Diregarding Trump's lack of knowledge of the syste, you think that Trump is equally corrupt as Obama/Clinton(s)/Bush/Biden?Duck07 wrote:On the same level, No, because those individuals had a better knowledge of how the system worked.dd10snoop28 wrote:Honest question: do you believe that orange man is on the same level of corruption as Obama/Clinton(s)/Bush/Duck07 wrote:What I mean by that is they aren't charging him with major crimes, but minor, process style charges, which is also why it feeds into the "political prosecution" narrative that his supporters have because we've seen 3 consecutive administrations lock children in cages and a civilian kill rate of 90% with drone-strikes, but taking boxes of files as POTUS (but not as VP) is considered over the line.dd10snoop28 wrote: These aren't slap on the wrist crimes dude.
