Ernie has hope if he can pull it together and win the rest of his non conference games (outside of Missouri and St. Mary's).

Doesn't change the fact that we lost to Montana at home by double digits. And honestly, ucla is in a major rebuilding year. They have almost a whole new lineup. We, on the other hand, returned EVERY PLAYER.

That Montana loss is silly, but Dunigan was out and we are very thin right now down low. Montana's big man killed us.dthomas=ddixon wrote:Doesn't change the fact that we lost to Montana at home by double digits. And honestly, ucla is in a major rebuilding year. That's still no excuse, but this season is still definitely salvageable.

Yeah that's the thing, I don't want it to be salvadged. I hope we just tank it so we can get a new coach. What's the point of just salvadging another year? It's getting old.UOducksTK1 wrote:That Montana loss is silly, but Dunigan was out and we are very thin right now down low. The 2 years when EK had good teams there was one common demoninator... a great PG. There isn't a great PG anywhere near this roster. Anyone hoping EK can turn it around with these players is going to be majorly dissapointed.

I would rather have another bad season, than for this season to be salvaged, if it meant Kent would be gone next year.dthomas=ddixon wrote:Yeah that's the thing, I don't want it to be salvadged. UCLA has an excuse to lose to Portland though. They lost everyone good from last year's team, and they win year in and year out. They had a bunch of freshman playing. The ducks returned everyone, and they are supposed to beat a team like Portland. I've stopped listening to what Ernie has said at this point.

You are right Ernie is a great coach and Oregon couldn't get anybody better. Losing to Montana at home is acceptable because they are a great team and it is really hard to coach this team when you don't have very talented players. Man for the talent Kent has being mediocre every season and then having a Tournament run is way more then I could ask as a fan. It is OK if Oregon loses a lot of games this season because they have a really difficult out of conference schedule and the PAC-10 is loaded this year so I say we must keep Kent around because we would be stupid and unrealistic to think we could get anyone better.

Since any of that was being talked about in this thread...I was speaking on the talk of the PG in the prior posts to mine...Malcolm Armstead is most definitely a high caliber PG...And like I said if you had watched the games and knew anything about basketball you would know thisgofightingducks wrote:pudgejeff wrote:Have you guys even watched a game, or know anything about basketball?

Now I just wish Chip could coach the football team the same way Ernie coaches the basketball team and I would be a very happy Duck fan!

Armstead is good but he is nowhere near the PG AB or Rid were. Kent needs a PG that does EVERYTHING out on the floor & is pretty much a second coach. Armstead isn't anywhere near that level.pudgejeff wrote:Since any of that was being talked about in this thread...I was speaking on the talk of the PG in the prior posts to mine...Malcolm Armstead is most definitely a high caliber PG...And like I said if you had watched the games and knew anything about basketball you would know thisgofightingducks wrote:pudgejeff wrote:Have you guys even watched a game, or know anything about basketball?

And by bringing up Armstead you essebtially agree with my initial point that EK must have a great PG to win... so in other words, HE ISN'T A GOOD COACH. Kent can't win without an NBA caliber PG leading his team. Something that would make every coach in the nation, no matter how incompetent, successful.

Re: Suddenly that loss to Portland doesn't look too bad
Every team needs a PG running the show...It's how it works...They make the big plays...Hit the big 3's...Make all the free throws down the stretch...It's ingrained in them from grade school...It's their job to stop the run, their job to settle the team, their job get the offense going, their job to feed the big man. Armstead does all of these things. So by you saying it's all the PG, you're saying that Freddie Jones, Luke Jackson, Anthony Norwood/Lever, James Davis, Brian Johnson, Chris Christofferson, Malik Hairston, Bryce Taylor, Maarty Leunen, Champ Oguchi, Tajuan Porter, and the rest were all meaningless and are just bums that could be replaced by anybody. Good thinking there sport.

Re: Suddenly that loss to Portland doesn't look too bad
What I'm saying is, without Rid or AB on those teams those guys woulda ended up massively underachieving. Just like the loads of talent on this team right now thats on its way to accomplishing NOTHING. Every team needs a good PG but most coaches can make due without a top flight NBA PG. Ernie can't. I feel bad for these kids. They come to our school thinking Kent is gonna coach 'em up & put them in a position to do some great things. Instead they've all degressed & gotten worse, and are nowhere near success.pudgejeff wrote:Every team needs a PG running the show...It's how it works...They make the big plays...Hit the big 3's...Make all the free throws down the stretch...It's ingrained in them from grade school...It's their job to stop the run, their job to settle the team, their job get the offense going, their job to feed the big man. Kent can't coach. I honestly, have no idea why you defend him. The reasons for you thinking he should stay are laughable. "We can't get anyone better." Yeah, that's a good way to go through life.

Re: Suddenly that loss to Portland doesn't look too bad
That loss really wasn't too bad at all even moreso now.

Portland @ #22 Minnesota 61-56 next up #8 West Virginia
Too bad the Ducks had to lose at home to Montana otherwise Kent wouldn't be getting all of this heat from us fans.
By the way Montana plays #14 Washington next so that score should be a good indicator on how bad the Montana loss was.
