They could get Shelstad back tonight.

Unfortunately this seems like a bad matchup for the Ducks with the bigs out. They have 3 guys 6’10” or bigger that play significant minutes. Ducks could get bullied down low.

Hate to say it but this will probably be the last viewed duck basketball game ever. Can’t believe they couldn’t have figured out a way to make the game way earlier in the day or something.

These holiday tournaments don't really care about any other sporting events when making their schedules.

Ducks get some great performances from Evans, Barthelemy, Diawara, and Shelstad but missed FTs (12-21) end up being the difference as Oregon drops their first game of the season 88-82 to Santa Clara. They'll play Alabama tomorrow to close out the tournament.

A few observation:

-Shelstead's energy is amazing. I can't imagine him not taking over as starting PG soon. We will see how he does with TO's. His fast pace is going to be a hotbed for turnovers. Either way, he is a spark that we need.

-Cousinard is still so bad. Can't shoot 3's or free throws. Is a black hole on offense. His only real strength is in the open court/fast break. I'd rather have him not play in favor ofr the other guys we have once we get full strength.

-Rigsby is looking significantly improved last year. He needs to be a starter and/or our 6th man. Making shots, playing good defense, and overall great energy. Very impressed so far. Reminds me of Dinvenzo from Villanova a few years back.

-Oquendo is still a question mark but he has incredible athleticism. We'll see how he progresses this year.

Overall, our offense looked fantastic from the 26min highlight video I watched.

Honestly, the biggest takeaway was how impressive Santa Clara looked. A ton of talent/athleticism on that team. Sheesh. I could see them going far in the tourney.
