Good win over USC 78-69! Had an 18 point lead in the second half. Shelstad shook off his freshman "hit the wall" time and led the Ducks with 20 points.
Free throws won this game with Oregon making 18 of 21 compared to 6 of 6 for the Trojans.

It was good to see Shelstad come out hot but he can't just disappear like he did after the first 8 minutes. Luckily they were getting good contributions from Couisnard, Oquendo, and Tracey. It should never have gotten as close as it did late as they took their foot off the gas was too soon. Seems to be an issue with Altman's last few teams once they get a big lead. Hopefully Bittle is good to go against UCLA as they'll need him with the Bruins' size down low.

Dana's team seems to play better with a smaller/quicker lineup?

Kinda? When USC made their 11-0 run at the end to cut it to 7, Nfaly Dante was out.

They were killing us inside. I think his presence inside is so valuable on defense. I felt like we were able to play small ball even when Dante was inside cuz they double teamed him immediately most possessions.

Shelstad has an insane strip on Bronny last night. Without Key, he's gotta step up more on defense.

Oquendo has so much potential if we can just get him to play better defense. He's got all the physical skill to be a + defender, but he has some super lazy defensive habits.

When we're not intent on feeding Dante and don't slow down the offense to do so, we're way better with him in. It's so fun to watch when he gets position and the pass gives him the angle for those monster dunks. His box out and presence inside hasn't been replaced by anyone else on the roster.

Oquendo also has a bad habit of driving and forcing the issue when it’s not there.

It’s nice we have Rigsby cuz I feel like usually one is on while the other is off so it’s nice to coach be able to play the hotter hand.
