Even discussion having Big Ten and SEC potentially have two automatic qualifiers. I do like that they're really brainstorming an ideal playoff scenario, especially after all the conference alignment that happened/ is happening.

In most cases, the "little" guy doesn't belong there in the first place.

I know that we've seen upsets by TCU, Boise State, etc in past years, and they were fun to watch.

That said, it's unfair for these teams to be getting playoff spots when they haven't played a full P-5 conference schedule like the rest of the automatic qualifiers have.

There's a LOT of money at stake and it's unfair to the other conferences for teams to play a lightweight schedule and then play for a full share of cash.

Also, you have to question how competitive they'd be in a playoff format. We're not talking about having a month to prepare for ONE P-5 team, but having 2-3 weeks to play a quarterfinal game, another 2 weeks to play a semifinal game, and then apx 2-3 more weeks to play in the championship.

I seriously doubt that most non P-5 schools have the depth to do that. Actually, it may be hard for some of the AQ's to pull it off, especially if conference championship games are kept in place.

Finally, what if one of them did pull off a miracle by winning 2 games in a row and knocking out a #1 or #2 seed? It would be a complete fluke, but can you say CHAOS?

We need to keep the "little" guys to a minimum.

Super is right. And hate to say it but NIL and wide open transfer portal is making the little guy disappear even faster.

Truth.

Top players on Many Mid-Major teams are looking for the spotlight now, and it's become much easier to do since they don't have to lose a year of eligibility to transfer.

Non-P4 schools are the new JCs.
