I thought going in that, with their best player banged up, a weak bench, and playing a back to back to back, that they had almost no chance.
I was watching the game for the first ten minutes or so, not paying attention to the score, with Colorado killing it on the boards and Oregon throwing up 3 pt bricks, and was thinking they were going to get creamed. Then saw that they were only down 7. They are still in it.
Then when they went into the penalty in the second half, I figured that the team that could shoot free throws (Colorado) would win.
Lesson: Never count out an Altman-coached team.
The best big ever? We had one who averaged 20 points over three seasons and was a top ten NBA selection. His name can't be mentioned here because he sent his son to UCLA
Might be the best game ever by a duck, though. Luke Jackson comes to mind; he had a monster game scoring a ridiculous number of consecutive points, but that was just to advance in the NIT.
Greg Ballard vs Oral Roberts! 43pts still school record.
Dante was held back by bad luck over the years, if he and his team stayed healthy all 5 years he might have had a special career.
But at his peak, Dante does seem like the most dominant big guy Oregon has ever had. In all honesty he should be getting more shot attempts, Shelstad and Couisnard should not be getting more shot attempts, Dante should lead the team in FGA IMO.
