Ok what if:/

If Oregon is still undefeated come the early signing date what does that do to our signing class? I know relationships and IL money are important but what do you think will happen if some of the ones we lost have committed to teams having bad years? Do they flip or stay the course? I don't believe our coaches will shut down unless they are told to stop by the player but what might happen?

Typically this years results on the field are felt down the line when it comes to recruiting. It might impact Portal decisions more but we could win it all and still see young guys leave for elsewhere because another young player is already ahead of them starting and they want to play. It can also have the opposite effect in that it makes others stay too but Oregon winning it all would really show up in future years more than this year by establishing the progrum and coaches; Dan would be able to say he doesn't need to leave because he can obviously accomplish every goal he could in Eugene.

I think Oregon ends up flipping a few recruits like they normally do in late November/early December. This is going to be a smaller class than normal so they can be really selective in who they target. They're probably going to hit TE, OL, DL, and LB the most for flips.

I suppose a caveat to add would be the "Hired & Fired HC" effect and how those ripples will naturally cause defections and transfers to occur.

Looks like Oregon may flip 4 star G Douglas Utu. Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons just submitted crystal balls that Oregon will flip the lineman. That’d be a huge get for Lanning & Co!

I’ll take that trade! Utu is regarded by most recruiting services as the 3rd best interior lineman in the country. Potential for elite here. Make it so Lanning!

UT OR UTAH?

Utu is a HS teammate of current commit Alai Kalaniuvalu at Bishop Gorman too. If we flip Utu, do we have a chance to flip the 3rd and most highly rated Bishop Gorman OL, Seuseu Alofaituli, from Miami?

Watching UCLA vs LSU gives me some hope Lanning can flip DJ Pickett, LSU is flat out bad and Brian Kelly is one of the most overrated coaches out there.

Actually, Brian Kelly is one of the better coaches in the country. He's won big everywhere he's been. Not including FCS level, he did extremely well at Central Michigan, Cincinnati and Notre Dame, going to the natty twice there.

I don't know why he's struggling at LSU. It could be a number of things. But I'd almost guarantee you that if you asked most coaches in the country about him, they'd have him in their top-15, top-20 coaches, maybe higher.

If I was lucky enough to have a son that was highly recruited, he’d be the last dude I’d want coaching him.

I think both of these things are true. Kelly is a top coach, based on his record. He does have few championships to his name, though. And secondly, he is a piece of.. work. Not a trustworthy person.
