The Other Guys - Week 9 games
Making this thread early this week because there's some intriguing games as the playoff bracket starts taking shape.
From the way it looks, there might be four or more playoff-elimination games.
(17) Boise State @ UNLV
With the winner of the American as their primary competition for the G5 playoff spot, Boise State could put some distance between themselves and Army/Navy, or UNLV could re-enter the conversation. If UNLV wins out, I think they're in, but whoever loses here has two losses and is probably out.
(12) Notre Dame @ (25) Navy
Both teams could realistically lose their spot by losing this game and dropping in the rankings. ND will be favored but they haven't looked great and it's on the road.
(21) Missouri @ (15) Alabama
Missouri with two losses probably doesn't make the playoffs and one has to think Alabama with three losses is in a position where they have to pray for chaos ahead of them.
(8) LSU @ (14) Texas A&M
Both teams have preseason losses that don't look great. Another loss is going to put either in a tough position that may not be surmountable.
You could also make the case that Pitt-Syracuse and Duke-SMU are elimination games, as well, as one is undefeated but ranked low and the rest are one-loss teams with outside shots to win the ACC.

I’m hoping for blowouts in those SEC games to so the frauds get exposed more and more (Missouri and LSU).
Crazy to think that Boise vs UNLV game could end up being a playoff seed for the winner.
I’ll be at the #3 Penn State at Wisconsin game. Go Badgers!

Re: The Other Guys - Week 9 games
I want Alabama to drop one more so they are out of the picture. I think Oregon can beat them, but I don't want a team with that much talent in the mix for anything at the end of the year. Lose one more and stay home for the playoffs.
From the rest of the games, go Boise State and go Navy. Is there a way both can slide into the playoffs? I have to think undefeated Army/Navy are pushing close to top 12 status and 12-1 Boise State is going to be top 12 for sure.

It's not impossible but obviously highly unlikely. You'd need chaos in the Big 12 to potentially make it where they don't get anyone in (top four seeds go to the four highest ranked conference champs, period, so it doesn't have to be from the four major conferences per se). If you had a 1 loss Boise where their only loss is a one-score game on the road at top-whatever Oregon, and an Army/Navy team that is undefeated with a win over Notre Dame, that's pretty compelling.frogsnouts wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 8:01 pm I want Alabama to drop one more so they are out of the picture. Pitt has four interceptions and three pick-6s in the first half against Syracuse. Pittsburgh definitely practices the tip drill.

Technically speaking, I still believe that a 11-1 WSU could qualify as a P5 Champ this year over a 2-loss Big 12 champ.

I mean I wouldn't put LSU in the "fraud" category. They came out slow against USC. However the team on both sides of the ball has been improving each week and Nuss with only 8 starts under his belt is playing very well. I am biased of course but I think it is going to be LSU wins by 4.UOducksTK1 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 20, 2024 5:21 pm I’m hoping for blowouts in those SEC games to so the frauds get exposed more and more (Missouri and LSU).
Mizzou for sure is a team that was over ranked due to Cook. If he is out this game so I don't see Mizzou being competitive at all.

I believe they have 2 season to get above 8 conference members or lose the status. That was my understanding once USC/UCLA left and it started the upheaval.

Wow the B1G hates Rutgers to have them playing this game at almost 2 in the morning and its still in the 3Q against USC.

Looks like it's going to be a long day for the Huskies. You hate to see that
on such an early time slot before people on the West coast can tune in to witness the carnage.
