Looks like both Cook and Lindsay will be out Monday but should be back soon.

Just some first half thoughts:
-Holy smokes this team is ATHLETIC! Bamba has some serious hops; that dude can get up there! Cook is also quite the athlete and I don’t remember Bittle’s vertical being so high! The athleticism of this team alone will make them scary in the B1G.
-Evans and Shelstad seem ready to take a leap forward this year, though I do think Shelstad could afford to be more aggressive.
-Full court defense is looking good! Especially with Cook! Cook brings so much energy on both sides of the ball and it’s fun to watch.
-Defensive rebounding seems to need some work especially when Bittle is off the court. Angle seems to struggle at getting positioning down low, but this issue seemed to get better once Cook was on the court so it could be a result of Altman experiencing with lineups.
-Are these Pac-12 refs? Way too many ticky tack fouls on both teams. Let them play!
I’m excited for this season! This team seems to have the potential of threatening the B1G.

Halftime score - Oregon 51 UC Riverside 36
Teams were tied 28-28 with 7:46 till halftime, but Oregon shut down UCR to just another 8 points while scoring 23 themselves.

UCR is just throwing crap up and it’s going in, they have to cool down at some point right?

Ducks win 91-76. UC Riverside’s strategy was pretty much jack up 3’s all game and hope they go in. Eventually they cooled down and at that point Oregon just had too much size and athleticism.
The potential is there but this team has a lot to work on, mainly on defense. Way too many open looks and easy lay ups for UC Riverside due to poor defensive rotations.

Ducks leading scorer Kwame Evans Jr. with 23 points.
Leading re-bounder Nate Biddle with 11 boards. Oregon dominated the glass 45 to 29.
Evans, Angel, Biddle, and Bamba score in double figures.

I didn't realize that Bittle was the only true big man this season. I'll be clutching my rabbit's foot from now through March on behalf of Nate.

Once Supreme Cook starts playing, we'll definitely need to distinguish between Supreme and Mookie! It's been so long since Mookie has played that the only Cook on the team I knew of was Supreme and so briefly thought Supreme had returned to playing much sooner than expected.

Really disappointed we didn't go for Austin Maurer down in Medford (Cascade Christian) who is now at Grand Canyon. He does all the same things that Bittle does as a 7-footer and might even be up to 7-1 now.StevensTechU wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 7:34 am I didn't realize that Bittle was the only true big man this season.
