The Other Guys - Week 10 games
Good stories about B10 matchups with mentions of Oregon throughout. I like the part about USC @ UW game, and how Jen Cohen is now the USC AD, whereas she served as UW AD the previous meeting. As always: second favorite team is whoever plays UW

Re: The Other Guys - Week 10 games
My watchlist for this weekend is (times Pacific)
Ohio State (4) v. Penn State (3) - 9am, Top 5 matchup speaks for itself, plus this will be only the second common opponent with Penn State
Air Force v. Army (21) - 9am, Rivalry game and Army still has a shot at the playoffs
Minnesota v. Illinois (24) - 9am, I'm trying to care about the Big Ten
(1) Oregon v. Michigan - 12:30pm, LETS GO
Texas Tech v. Iowa State - 12:30pm, Iowa State just has to not stumble over themselves and they're in the playoffs
(10) Texas A&M v. South Carolina - 4:30pm, South Carolina is a horrible offense but I don't know that A&M is unbeatable by a mid team
Louisville v. Clemson (11) - 4:30pm, Still rooting for Clemson to stumble so the ACC only gets one team in and I just don't like Dabo
(18) Pitt v. SMU (20) - 5pm, Playoff eliminator game

I watched the 60 minute version of Michigan vs Michigan State last night. Took 2 hours because I kept dosing off and had to rewind.StevensTechU wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 3:11 pm My watchlist for this weekend is (times Pacific)

Outside of the Oregon and Ohio State games, it's kinda a meh weekend.StevensTechU wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 3:11 pm My watchlist for this weekend is (times Pacific)

I do like SC upsetting A&M though. I might chime into that one.

Re: The Other Guys - Week 10 games
I don't think South Carolina is a top 40 team because of how awful their offense is, but the Southeastern Conference is definitely one where you can win with 20-25 points. Get a scoop and score or the like, and it could happen.

I want Penn State in the CCG. Prefer that to playing OhSU twice. Would like to play and beat their 2 best this season. Go PSU Whatchamacallits!

Would be one hell of a season, one for the ages, to beat tOSU, PSU AND Meeech. the Athletic has an article today (https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/588610 ... d=11569900) that shows the last 10 teams to beat both Meeech and tOSU in the same season. It is quite a feat.GrandpaDuck wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 12:25 pm I want Penn State in the CCG. Prefer that to playing OhSU twice. Would like to play and beat their 2 best this season. Both Penn State and Ohio State have fairly easy schedules to wrap up the season. So yeah, gotta root for Penn State (even though I'm still convinced they're not a top 5 team).GrandpaDuck wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 12:25 pm I want Penn State in the CCG. Penn State is #3 in the polls playing #4 and playing at home but are (probably correctly) the underdog. Not something that happens very often.

Re: The Other Guys - Week 10 games
I see positives and negatives for Oregon getting into/being left out of the B10C game. If Penn State wins and Indiana wins, Oregon could be left out even as undefeated. No tough championship game (or B10 title) in exchange for a 5th seed 1st-round at-home against an easier opponent? I see both paths as promising, however, it's one where Oregon can only control so much. It's either a championship game/bye, or no championship game/1st round, so the "bye" doesn't mean fewer games.

Re: The Other Guys - Week 10 games
The Big 4 Marquee Bowls still have their Conf Tie-in so getting the Rose Bowl in the QF round would give our fans the best shot of home-field advantage.
Being #1 this year would mean we'd get the Cotton Bowl vs the Orange bowl in the Semi's with the Final in Atlanta.
Clearly the West Coast with only 1 out of 7 bowl games, vs 6 of 7 in the direct SEC footprint is horseshit that needs to be changed with more West Coast Final sites like Vegas.

Miami and their offense might be on upset alert taking on a rather effective Duke defense which has an identical stop rate to our defense, ranked 13th and 14th. We certainly know Mario is capable of running his offense into the ground in games too.

Re: The Other Guys - Week 10 games
If Indiana goes unbeaten in the regular season this year, that would need to include beating tOSU at the Horseshoe on Nov. 23. I don't see that happening, but in that scenario Indiana probably deserves to be in the B1G CCG (vs. whomever).5$ wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 6:29 pm I see positives and negatives for Oregon getting into/being left out of the B10C game. Re: The Other Guys - Week 10 games
According to the hosts at The Solid Verbal (popular college football podcast), there is virtually no situation where Indiana slips in ahead of Oregon due to common opponents and strength of schedule. While fun to win the very first B1G title we even play for, a sizable part of me would trade it for a home game in the playoffs. However, it doesn't sound likely unless the Ducks stumble down the stretch, in which case a home game in the first round isn't a guarantee.
I do think about how fun it would be to make a southeast team travel to Autzen in December to play us in cold, wet conditions where our fans would be going bezerk. Unfortunately, you don't get that if you're a top 4 seed.

I want Oregon to go "recruit" Taylor from Minnesota. Kid is an absolute stud. Maybe get Bucky to help out.
