Oregon has finally flipped 2025 TE Vander Ploog from UW. Still expecting them to get at least one more TE this class.

Is he really 6'7" like that tweet indicates? That is the first time I have seen him listed as such. It would be interesting to see how his measurements compare to someone like Cure. It would be cool to have an accurate, direct comparison of their height, weight, wingspan, hand size, 40 time, short shuttle time, etc.

I saw a short interview Ploog gave a while back and he came across like a smart, hard working kid (as much as you can tell in a couple minute clip, at least). If that is the case, it seems like he has a pretty good shot at tapping into his considerable upside.

Made Coach Dan look short standing next to him.

As an inline Y-TE hard to say since its just not on the film. As a flexed out F-TE, he looks the part. Not shifty or quick, but a solid athlete who has good hands and while he's effectively a WR for Fullerton, there is a lot of crossover with his route tree and what we ask our TE's to do when spread out.

If you want to compare Ploog and Cure, Ploog is more like Ferguson, bigger/slower and Cure is more Sadiq, faster/explosive.

Cure is playing Kansas level ball vs Ploog in CA but Cure reminds me of Colt with football IQ who knows when to sit in the route, how to setup a defender with speed to power. Just because Cure is faster also doesn't mean he'd be more effective but each are capable of being high level players looking at their skill sets. Each could seemingly grow into Y-TE but its not their game right now, at least what they've put on HUDL.

^^ Saying Cure has Sadiq's athleticism is a bit of a stretch, IMO, but I agree with the Ploog/Ferguson comparison. As such, I have the same comparison about blocking.

Don't forget Olesh, the Michigan commit that Oregon was able to get on campus. He'd be my top choice at this point.

So after a quick HUDL rabbit hole, I definitely see why you prefer Olesh over Cure. Eyliss Williams, #2 on 247 is so big and raw that I think I'd rank him #1 with Olesh #2 and Cure #3 and Ploog #4 just based off the film I've seen of those 4. Being strong on the edges will never not be important in football.
