I’m not sure what everyone’s issue is with what he posted? It’s been a well known nickname for BYU’s QB that both he and BYU have leaned into, including that hashtag. Nothing about his comment seems derogatory to me.

Re: The Other Guys - Week 12
I guess maybe not for a super casual fan (not saying that’s you, as you’re clearly familiar with it), but I’ve heard it used all over the place, including Gameday and Sportscenter. Gameday did a whole segment on it. It’s been one of the bigger storylines in college football this season.
I’d expect anyone that watched college football closely to have heard of it, so seems reasonable for someone to not think much of it using it on a college football message board.

Re: The Other Guys - Week 12
I admit I did not know he referred to himself as #BY…. My thoughts were on 6 million Jews who died in the holocaust sparked by the recent violent acts during the anti Israel protest. I am old enough to have worked with a very nice man, in his mid to late 60’s at the time who was a holocaust survivor, tattooed survivor. I guess that makes me a causal fan, I am good with that. Words have different meaning to different people, “we are who we are because of were we have been.”

#Grateful
Thank goodness for the elderly, non-Jewish, white guys of the world. How else would someone like myself know that the Jewish community is deeply offended by this stuff? Forget that the BYU QB literally put #BYJew on his Twitter profile. Forget that rabbis around the world have been proudly sporting their #BYJew t-shirts. Heck, forget that rabbis in Salt Lake City were the ones that originally started producing and selling the #BYJew t-shirts, to gentiles and non-gentiles alike, replete with the Star of David (oy vey). These t-shirts were 82.28 shekels before the post-Holy War (moral outrage alert!) loss, but I suggest waiting for the Black (moral outrage alert?!?) Friday sale. I'd make some joke about these garments being the new magic underwear, but this message board has reformed me. The elderly, non-Jewish, white guys of DucksAttack are here to keep me in check, provide some cultural perspective and teach us all about world history/current events. For example, I had never heard of half the stuff Alan mentioned, but I am now putting Schindler's List on my "to watch" list. Sounds like a banger.
Furthermore, I pledge to not discuss the Kansas City Chiefs nor the Atlanta Braves, just in case the token Latinos of this board inform me how offensive it is to the Native American community. No offense to the elderly, non-Latino, white guys on here, but you don't have a monopoly on faux moral outrage nor world history/current events. The Trail of Tears runs deep on DucksAttack.
Anywho, I'm off to browse FishDuck. For some reason my posting "privileges" have been rescinded over there, but mercifully my account was not terminated on the only self-proclaimed "Forum with Decorum" in the world! This allows me to keep my finger on the pulse of the corpulent, geriatric, faculty challenged portion of the fan base (running amok with no worries of their little feelers getting hurt), as opposed to general, comparative dimwits that can be found on every other platform. Of course, the overlap of these platforms often runs as deep as the Trail of Tears.
Thanks again DucksAttack and keep up The Good Fight. Shalom! #NeverForget #CincodeMayo #Juneteenth #MeToo #StopAsianHate #ScoDucks

I am not Jewish, Just saying . Judging from some of your previous post you strike me as least a "book educated" person. So I will say I am disappointed you are unaware of some of the facts of our world history... the holocaust, the treatment of American Indians, including but not excluded to The Trail of Tears, treatment of slaves....

Yeah, relax. You don't need to get bent out of shape just because you are apparently a non-Jew (not even an offensive term, in and of itself) that is clueless about this cultural phenonmenon in the Jewish community. For people that aren't on your pseudo, endless quest to come across as a worldly, empathetic character, there may be some humor and wit to be found. Of course, the majority of people on message boards are doorknobs that have no sense of humor and/or half the references may just go right over their heads.
I will admit, however, that any humor in my reply pales in comparison to Alan's retort. The thing that makes Alan funny is that you legitimately have no clue if he is being serious or not. Can anyone that has read this guy's posts over the years say with 100% certainty if his reply is a joke? I think not. The funniest option would be that his reply is completely serious (I'm leaning this way). Slightly less funny would be that he is joking, without actually being funny, which is moderately humorous in a different kind of way. Either way...never change, Alan, never change.
Keeping with the theme of this thread, are there any Fijian women out there (preferably in your 20's) that can chime in and let Alan know if he should be offended by this?

Connect gets so lost in all of this. I'm confused as to who's joking, and who's being serious. Either way, I'm entertained at least
