Other Guys Transfer Portal - 2024-25
Some interesting goings-on that likely won't impact the Ducks.
Wazzu's freshman RB who I really like after he ran for 800+ yards in his first year will be hitting the portal. I hope he rescinds.
Former Duck commit WR Nic Anderson, who had a great freshman year at Oklahoma and missed his sophomore year with injury, is in the portal. Ducks could be a player, who knows.
Another former commit, WR Kyron Hudson at USC, will play his last year elsewhere.
The whole southeastern conference seems to be swapping players with each other. Just mercenaries, really.
Noah Fifta of Arizona will take his QB talents, or lack thereof, elsewhere next year.
I've seen one Beaver hit the portal that will hurt a little, as they don't have a ton of depth in the defensive backfield (or anywhere), but OSU's rough season might actually mean that their players don't get targeted in the portal. Plus and minus there, I suppose. Looking at uw, they've had a handful jump in the portal so far but they've all been backups.

Re: Other Guys Transfer Portal - 2024-25
Reports are that in the first day of the transfer portal being open there were 1,537 entrants. That's up roughly 3x the number from a year ago. While I think a lot of that is just better planning, it does speak to an even bigger transfer market this year compared to prior years.

Former Duck Robby Ashford is again hitting the portal. Been at Oregon, Auburn, and South Carolina.

Re: Other Guys Transfer Portal - 2024-25
I caught a lot of flack for saying Terry Wilson (on another forum) and Robby Ashford were not good college QB prospects despite their ratings, and they've had remarkably similar careers to one another. Both guys would be legends if they would've opted to go to a Portland State or Abilene Christian, and probably would've developed more as passers along the way, too.squintsdd wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 4:26 pmI didn't even know he was still in school.StevensTechU wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 12:41 pm Former Duck Robby Ashford is again hitting the portal. Yeah, Ashford was one of those guys that was a decent athlete, but not particularly good at any one position. I was surprised that he got a much playing time as he did with AuburnStevensTechU wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 4:46 pmI caught a lot of flack for saying Terry Wilson (on another forum) and Robby Ashford were not good college QB prospects despite their ratings, and they've had remarkably similar careers to one another. Tacario Davis, CB from Arizona, is in the portal. He flirted with following Jedd Fisch last season but ultimately stayed. Not sure how he fared in 2024 after looking like a potential 1st-2nd rounder in 2023. Ridiculous length for a cornerback at 6'3-6'4.
The other fascinating former-Pac school transfer is Cal's QB Fernando Mendoza is hitting the portal. Maybe he's in the running for the Miami spot since Darian Mensah is apparently headed to Duke.

Didn't Terry Wilson end up going to Kentucky and doing well? I could be mistaken.StevensTechU wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2024 4:46 pmI caught a lot of flack for saying Terry Wilson (on another forum) and Robby Ashford were not good college QB prospects despite their ratings, and they've had remarkably similar careers to one another. He never learned to pass a football, unfortunately. The team had success when he was at Kentucky despite a passing offense, and he finished his career at New Mexico State.SuperDuck wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 4:19 pmDidn't Terry Wilson end up going to Kentucky and doing well? Pribula entering the portal. Won't stay with Penn State for the playoffs.

I wonder if it means Drew Allar is returning.StevensTechU wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2024 7:12 pmThis is wild. Not only missed the playoffs, but isn't he the heir apparent for next season?
