Just saw that air noland entered the portal yesterday. That's kind of interesting one since many considered him to be the next big time quarterback for Ohio State

If a package, ya i see more of a mid tier place like UNC where they can get a ton of touches between themUOducksTK1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2024 3:51 pm Branch brothers would be a fun add, but I feel like they'd get more touches collectively somewhere else.

Oregon State is getting some help at quarterback. Maalik Murphy is coming in from Duke, which is a bit of a surprise. Must've put together a competitive NIL package because I don't know of any ties to the program.

Murphy is a nice pickup for the Beavs. He should be their starter next year.

Ya surprised they can land guys like him! BYU TE was also a nice addition for them. They’re looking more promising than Wazzu for next season.pdxduck2013 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 7:27 pm Murphy is a nice pickup for the Beavs. He should be their starter next year.

Re: Other Guys Transfer Portal - 2024-25
Ohio State is on a war path in the transfer portal. Got the top tight end from Purdue, likely the top offensive tackle from Rice, a starting-caliber RB from West Virginia, and an intriguing DE from Idaho State.
Penn State backup QB Beau Pribula is reportedly going to Missouri for $1.5M.
Meanwhile, I can't keep track of all the south-of-the-mason-dixon conference transfers. Seems like they're all just swapping players with one another, and I don't know who is moving up and who is moving down. It used to be that the conference was Alabama and a bunch of jokers, with LSU popping off every few years, but now I think they're going to replace the school logos with different colored jerseys that just say "SEC" and you'll watch SEC Red play SEC Purple in your game of the week on ESPN. Players will have been on so many rosters that it'll be like trying to remember all the dodgeball teams you were on at recess all year long. New slogan- It Just Doesn't Matter Anymore.
The one I can keep somewhat straight is Auburn. They're landing big name after big game to a 5-7 team with a coach on the hot seat. That donor base must be having some very interesting conversations with their significant others about where the savings is going.

It's essentially a year without "cap space" before the "cap" kicks in which is why Mensah just got 2 years/8 Million from Duke. Some places are definitely using their funds now before we get some kind of consistency but I can't imagine how much more of a shitshow HS recruiting will become once those "rankings" set the bar for what incoming players will be allowed to make.StevensTechU wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2024 9:23 am Ohio State is on a war path in the transfer portal. Also, how can I get a job with the NCAA being an arbiter of NIL deals? What do I have to do, watch film all day?

There are a host of topics I've been kicking around in my head that I've left off the boards because they're much better as off-season fodder. But I don't think a theoretical cap is going to be as impactful as one might think about for the pros.

Poodles get Johntay Cook from Texas to add to their Offense, which if they can block, has the chances at being a quality unit next year.
It also makes me think that the Cougar Alum who did that NIL valuation probably isn't off too much when he had the poodles not far behind us in NIL spending last year with the way they've also used the Portal.

Difference is the Ducks have had a lot more quality HS recruiting classes than UW recently. UO has a better overall pool to draw from.

Re: Other Guys Transfer Portal - 2024-25
washington had pieces this year. Not sure Cook is better than Giles Jackson, and they also lose Jeremiah Hunter.
The huskies bigger problems are on the lines. Their offensive line needs to add some talent to improve, and with Bandes and Valdez graduating, they need to land some DL in the portal or they're going to be even worse on defense.

Both Branch brothers from USC to UGA. Were the Ducks even a player?

Georgia was desperate, they probably paid way more than Oregon was willing to pay.Everythingsducky wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 7:14 pm Both Branch brothers from USC to UGA. Were the Ducks even a player?
