Simple travel math has them burning up a whopping 2,448 miles ALL SEASON! Not to mention that they never leave the South...furthest away is Miss St. at 357 miles and Tenn at 272 miles (but I'm sure Kirby will find something to complain about). For perspective, UW is 282 miles from Eugene and WSU is 458 miles.

Compare this to the Duck's travel next season...

Rutgers - 2,904 miles EACH WAY
Penn St. - 2,696 miles EACH WAY
Northwestern - 2,150 miles EACH WAY
Iowa - 1,921 miles EACH WAY
UW - 282 miles each way
Total - 19,906 (over 8 times that of UGA)

If the Ducks make the BIG Championship and Georgia the SEC Championship next year, the Ducks will add another 4,538 total miles, while the mutts will add 144 to get to Atlanta.

I thought just the 8 game conference schedule was the biggest thing out of whack with the SEC, but man they know how to take care of their own. Can't wait til enough is enough and a level playing field becomes part of the norm (like that will ever happen ). But, who cares, right? What an opportunity!!!

Now I could be wrong, with the exception of a couple SEC teams a year (and that is a fairly recent trend) they already have weak OOC games. When they do it’s even rarer that they travel. Texas vs Michigan was scheduled long before Texas joining the SEC. For fucks sake, how much more of a cupcake OOC schedule can you have…..I guess they could schedule some HS jv teams. IMHO any conference that plays 8 conference games should have their SOS penalized unless they play an extra OOC P4 team instead of 1 P4, 1 G5 and whatever a Portland St type school is. That or the BIG10 and BIG12 drop to a 8 game conference schedule, I just don’t see that happening. This is a huge advantage for them. Every team gets a guaranteed W vs half the conference getting a L. This year they would have 3 less teams being bowl eligible, less teams in the top 25 (this year wouldn’t of mattered) which means less top 25 W, less wear and tear physically and mentally. The fact that no one points it out (not surprised ESPN doesn’t) especially these know it all pundits is bs.
