WBB End of preseason Per Minute Stats Highlights.

Since they aren't readily available I like to calculate Per Minute stats a couple of times a year for both the men and women's teams. Since I copy and paste the stats it in one swoop into a spreadsheet that has all the formulas it takes about a 20h of the time as it did to actually write up the post.
Going into Conference play :
The number in Parenthesis is the minutes per game of playing time they are averaging. For example Etute is the highest point for minutes but only gets an average of 13 minutes playing time per game.
Points per minute top 5: Etute (13) Scott(24), Muhammad (22), Mevius (19), Kyei (15) Of note frequent starters Kelly and Bell are 8th and 12th respectively.
Total Rebounds per minute: Kyei (15). Etute (13), Long (10), Muhammad (22) Mevius (19) Of note the super thin 6'1" Long leads the team in defensive rebounds per minute.
Assists per minute: Mevius (19), Kelly (30), Falatea (17), Kyei (15), Fiso (10) Of note Scott (24) is 8th, never would have guessed that.
Steals per minute: Long (10), Mevius (19), Whitfield (18), Etute (13), Kelly (30)
Lowest Turnovers: Long (10), Falatea (17), Bell (23), Kelly (30), Muhammed (22)
- Kyei playing more would increase the teams productivity but that has more to do with her health and conditioning than coaching decisions.
- Etute is top 2 in scoring and rebounding as well offensive efficiency (shoots 58% draws fouls and makes the free throws). The drawback has been she is the worst on the team in Turnovers per minute and Fouls committed. Her injury in Europe at the start of the year has slowed her progress but getting her more than 13 minutes per game would make the team better.
- Ari Long has been a shock to both me and the coaches I suspect, she is the best rebounding small by a mile, is the best at steals on a team that is very good in that category. She is pesky, handsy and in your face disruptive on defense; when paired with Mevius they keep the opposing perimeter players heads on a swivel The last 3 games her minutes have gone way up but I would play her even more (just take away her green light on 3s).
Kelly who I suspect we have the biggest NIL investment of all the transfers is over used at 30 minutes per game. With her horrid season long 3 point shooting slump, allocating some of her minutes to Mevius and Long would benefit the team. Bell defends without fouling and doesn't turn the ball over but she is 12th per minute in scoring, rebounds, and assists. 23 minutes per game is way too much when there are others who can also defend and give a whole bunch more in the big 3 stats.
