I really think these two games are great opportunities for the Ducks. As far as I can tell, Illinois and Maryland are two pretty good teams, relatively evenly matched with the Ducks, but with the Ducks having the home court advantage. Would be terrific if the Ducks could get a couple of wins to get some confidence before they start going on the road against various B1G Conference foes. I'll be quite disappointed if they don't get a win out of the weekend.

Agreed, a sweep is needed to stay as a top threat in the Big Ten.

Now that football season is over will attendance increase for the basketball team? I hope for our first real B1G home games we have at least a decent crowd.

How do schools that get capacity attendance usually do it? For a weekday game, how do you get to 12,000 fans? Working backward a little bit,

50 fans from the Medford metro
100 out of towners looking for an event to go to
250 fans from the Portland metro
500 fans from the Salem area

So then.. 2,000 students and 9,000 Eugene area residents? So 1 on 10 students and 1 in 40 Eugene residents? At first thought, that's a tall order and would require a real cultural shift.

Uncle Phil's going to need to build his own high-speed rail system along I-5 to really max out the ability of the larger population centers to make it to Eugene and back.

I don’t expect a sellout, but hopefully at least a half full stadium. MKA can get quite empty.

Ducks getting their asses handed to them. Par for the week. They need to find a point/off guard that can shoot with some consistency. Shelstad shows flashes, but his playmaking is severely lacking. That and his lack of scoring to make up for that lack. He just disappears for long stretches. Bittle needs someone to set him up. Shelstad has now played over 40 minutes the last two games, with ONE assist. That is unfathomable. We need a playmaker at the point.

Crappy defense so far. Halfway through the 2nd half, Ducks giving up 54% FG percentage and 51% 3 pointers. That will end up a loss every time. Way to start your BIG 10 season getting killed at home.

Terrible 2 days for Oregon.

I am tired of waiting for Shelstad to “wake up”, this is the type of player he is. It honestly looks like he didn’t even work in the offseason or do any drills, not saying that’s true just looks that way.

Altman also need to change the starting lineup, he never should’ve sat KJ Evans, we can’t have Tracey and Angel starting together they just lack strength and speed against legit competition with those two.

Extremely disappointed in the defense for two days in a row, especially with coaches that take pride in defense.

This has just been ugly in the 2nd half. Oregon has had no answers for Illinois being absolutely unconscious from three tonight. Have to think Altman will be hot in the locker room and then at practice the next couple days. Not going to get any easier with Maryland coming in but they just lost to UW up in Seattle tonight.

Maryland game will show if the Ducks are overrated.

Worst week of Oregon sports in a while… Ooph.
