Mookie Cook transferring

As many were expecting after his less than solid answer yesterday, Mookie Cook is transferring. Sucks seeing a talented in-state kid like him transfer but Oregon should find someone who can easily replace him in the portal. Based on rumors, it sounds like his brother was the one pushing him to transfer out to find a guaranteed starting spot.

His brother is his manager/agent, so that makes sense that he's a catalyst. Ultimately, they're looking for the best situation for the player. Is he going to develop better next season getting 30 minutes a game at Utah State or 15 minutes at Oregon? That's really the question.

I like Mookie, hope he does well. Wish he would have stayed, but totally makes sense that he wants to start over somewhere new.

Sad to see this. Was really looking forward to see what he could do. I also worry that this "failure" to develop/keep a top in-state recruit could have a chilling effect on future in-state recruiting.

Like Bittle and Shelstad?
Mookie's injury and summer off shooting a movie probably carries more weight for blame. And this year's depth chart also didn't help. It happens. Not at all a reflect on DA or the team.

Again, I trust Altman. If he didn’t see Cook producing at a level to get him minutes, so be it. Hope for him, he is able to improve, but hate to say, he could have just been egregiously overrated. Coach sees all, hears all, and watches and evaluates every practice. We don’t.

Hate to see it because he's an Oregon kid and seems to have fun out there.
I do think there's room for Dana to play young guys more to develop them, but Mookie was also a bit out of shape. Hard to reward that. Anyway, I hate the portal and wish he'd stayed.
Dana needs to hit on some dang wing transfers that aren't JAGs. Shelstad/Bittle/Kwame can get you to a Final Four, but you need a Chris Duarte/Tyler Dorsey level player in there with them.
