He had an Oregon Ducks poster on the wall behind his chair on his podcast set.

Such a great young man with a bright future, what a tragic loss. I also hope Lanning acknowledges him some how, I doubt the university will. Prayers are with his wife and family, RIP Charlie

Politics are in this forum already, if you don’t like the post don’t read it. This is more of a RIP to a Duck fan then it is anywhere close to a political post.

If you dont like it get out is entirely inappropriate response. Politics have been discouraged heavily for longer than you have been on here.

Dude, someone was shot and killed, a father to two young children, a husband, and he happened to be a duck fan. If you see support Charlie Kirk as political then you might be a little too into politics.

Nobody is discussing his stance, or where he stood on political issues, it’s just simply acknowledging the tragedy his death is.

You twisted and misquoted me. I said “if you don’t like the post don’t read it”. I never said “get out”. As far as politics on this board check out “other” page on the board index, there are two ongoing political posts on that page. Please do not make this RIP to a fan political.

This thread has done nothing but inform us that Charlie Kirk, who is a political figure who was tragically murdered a few days ago, was a dedicated Oregon Duck fan. That is something I did not know until yesterday.

No one is trying to introduce any of Charlie's ideologies, whether spiritual or political here. Without going into detail, it is unsurprising that some members of this forum, the university and Eugene would take offense that Charlie Kirk would have any connection to the Duck's in any way. Your reaction to the mere mention of him in this forum is proof of that.

I certainly could say more, but that indeed would get political!

I understand the decision to not honor him specifically in these politically charged times. But I almost feel the University could have honored him with a moment of unity against political violence in general. From Jan. 6 to the assassination of the Minnesota lawmaker to the assassination of Kirk, there's been devastating political violence that's left Americans grappling with issues of sadness, justice, fairness, and what will happen next.

A mention of Kirk and a moment of unity against the violence that took his life could have been meaningful to everyone.

Also, my sincere best wishes to those of you on this forum who really valued his presence. Clearly, I don't agree with a lot of stuff he said, but I can't imagine how gutted I'd feel if someone like Jon Stewart (The Daily Show) were assassinated in that manner. This is America, and nobody should ever be killed for sharing opinions. Sad & ugly times we are in.

With it being a road game, it was kind of tough for them to do too much. I think it'll be interesting to see what they do at home to potentially honor him.
