The smoke signal that Ducks basketball is about to start is that key players start going down with injury. School announced that Shelstad has broken his hand and will be out 4-6 weeks.

Oregon just announced Jackson Shelstad will be out 4-6 weeks after breaking his hand in practice. Not ideal with the season starting soon but it will give the newcomers a chance to really play important roles early.

Witchcraft! Every other player should be wrapped in bubble wrap until game day.

Obviously not great news and, yes, it seems to happen a lot with the Men's program (though I don't recall it happening last season). But it's still possible Shelstad could be ready for the entire regular season (which begins at home v. Hawaii on Nov. 4, after the exhibition games v. Utah and Stanford).

Yeah, not the biggest blow but I hope it doesn’t set him back in terms of just missing a big chunk of practice and early warmup games.

That's a shame. But with my UO Green colored glasses, this looks like an opportunity for Lin to show us what he's got.
