2026 Portal

In a world where Dante Moore goes off in the Playoff and we need a QB for 2026, Sam Leavitt could be one of the top options available. He and his family haven't put to rest whether he'll be back or not and have been vague with their words. (Can't blame them in this NIL era either)

From living in the Phoenix area, what I've heard is that Sam Leavitt is leaving. I don't know why, though. It could be any number of things.
He transferred to ASU from Michigan State. Maybe he misses the Midwest?
Time will tell.

If he misses home, that would be West Linn.

Maybe SuperDuck meant Mid West-Linn? Like somewhere in The Rosemont Ridge area…

It is 100% a market decision and he's likely going to end up in the SEC for double what ASU can pay him.

Seems like an unceremonious exit on top of the market decision. I wonder why he didn't attend the banquet and whatnot.

Probably as simply as just being an awkward breakup

I wonder if the Ducks would be interested if Dante leaves for the NFL? They'd likely have to make some kind of move in the portal, especially if Novasad goes to Kentucky with Stein.
I'm not very confident in Brock Thomas as a starting option, or even a long term backup option. I was as surprised as everyone else when he came out to play instead of Novasad or Luke Moga.

If Dante comes out, I think we're in for a hell of an expenditure. I expect the staff is going to make competitive bids to keep Bear, Amauri, Poncho, and even Thieneman in school, and might win some and lose some. I'm sure they're paying Dante a lot, but they sort of bought low on him so it will pale in comparison of what the cost of proven but inferior talents will cost- Leavitt, Mestemaker, etc.
Depending on how everything shakes out, I don't hate the idea of going after Notre Dame's backup Kenny Minchey. He outplayed Carr in the spring but the staff rolled the dice on who they thought had a higher ceiling. He's a good dual threat, just probably not an NFL guy. Think thicker Dante without as much arm talent.
Here are his spring highlights:

I thought Akili Jr looked pretty solid in the spring game and is a physical specimen. Why no love for him?

Reading the tea leaves, he's 5th on the depth chart. The rumor mill is that he's struggled adjusting, so it seems he's more of a project than a guy ready to lead a playoff team in 2026.

Florida QB DJ Lagway is entering the portal. Through two years, he's passed for 62% completion, 174 yards per game, and has a TD to INT ratio of 28:23.
He definitely needs two more years of football, even though he'll be draft eligible after 2026. Like fellow conference QB Lanorris Sellers, he's viewed as having 1st round upside but recent performance makes you wonder if he's even capable of leading a playoff-caliber team.

Dylan Raiola, Nebraska QB and bargain store Mahomes, is also entering the transfer portal.
Don't do it, Ducks. Please.

You beat me to it. I can't imagine they'll go after him. Why create a controversy with what's already existed to be one of the best quarterbacks next season
