Funny Story

Post by nogerO »

So my son in law a medivac helicopter pilot in New Mexico offered to fly me to Phoenix to go with him on a journey to take a helicopter to NM, drop it off and fly another helicopter to Lafayette, LA. He typically has to stop every 2- 2 1/2 hrs for fuel. So one of our stops was in Lubbock and it was almost dusk (his company won't let them fly ferrying (term used to take a helicopter from on place of work to another). We went into the airport and of course I was wearing my green Duck hat with the yellow O, my Oregon ducks hoodie and my green and gold nike's. First person I see is a guy decked out in Texas Tech Garb, freshly in from Miami. He looked at me and said something like you really didn't come to Lubbock wearing that just to rub it in did you? I laughed and said it was purely happenstance that caused us to land here for the night. He laughed and we traded some light banter and I told him y'all have a great Defense, but ours is better and your offense is pedestrian at best. He stammered back with well we were in the top 5 in stats for offense all year. I politely reminded him that they played in the big (?) XII. He had no response for that. He did say he was mightily impressed with the way Oregon fans traveled. I met so many people who said go ducks and threw me the O on the trip it was incredible.

I don’t understand why people want to poo poo the TTU offense. They had the 2rd ranked O, much,
Much better running backs than say Bama has. And we shut them down. It seems the narrative is less that our D is really good, and more than TTU was a fraud on O. I don’t think IU has better RB than TT. We shut them down before, and can again. And we have changed how we are using DT. He’s playing far better now then vs IU. And I think Dan has figured out how to use him more now.

It's the NBA rock the baby/diminish your opponent thing, which incidentally means your victory wasn't that remarkable if you think so little of them.

Lubbock however is absolute dirt clod of a town to have to live in.

Never been to Lubbock, but I’ve been to Alabama. And it’s not exactly a dream come true place to live
