I know this gets talked about a lot. But DA is seriously a magician from Mid February on. I remember seeing a stat last year or year before showing we were the winningest team in the month of March in the last like decade or so.
Only one losing season for Dana Altman at Oregon from mid February til end of post season:
2025: ? 3-1 so far
2024: 9-2
2023: 8-4
2022: 6-4
2021: 4-7
2020: 11-3
2019: 6-1 (Cut short COVID)
2018: 10-3
2017: 7-5
2016: 12-2
2015: 11-2
2014: 9-3
2013: 9-2
2012: 9-4
2011: 7-3
2010: 9-6
One these aren't just over .500 records during this period, these are strong dominant records for the most part. Hope it continues against NW!

Again, late season surges are great, but as we’ve seen historically, whether it’s due to injuries or other factors, Oregon has a midseason slump in January through mid February. It’s great they turn things around but there are a few seasons under Altman that the ducks would’ve made it father in the tournament (or even made the tournament) if it weren’t for low seeding as a result of those slumps.
I know I’m the Altman hater it’s just confusing that all we hear is how he’s a late season magician, but what about the part of the season his team underperforms? Why do we make the team that slumps the norm/expectation allowing there to be so much credit for this late season “magic” when maybe the team should’ve performed that way all season long? And if they did, we’re looking at a 3 seed with a Sweet Sixteen or Elite Eight run instead of an 8 seed with a round 2 elimination against one of the best teams. Yeah the late season surge is fun but I’ve never understood how the Oregon faithful can’t see the glaring issue with Altman and these mid season slumps. And before anyone comes at me and says “injuries” this isn’t a one year thing, we’ve seen it in most years under Altman even in years they stayed healthy.
Maybe I’m being too critical but I feel like the standard for men’s basketball is so much lower than it is for football.

Well the standard for MBB is much lower for football since more money & resources are poured into the football program and expectations are for them to be national title contenders every year now. I'd be surprised if MBB is in the top half of the Big Ten when it comes to AD/NIL funding and if they are, they're probably just barely in there.

I mean he’s had basically a 20 win team every year he’s been here. So it’s obviously not just late season surges. He’s a great coach as is, but he ends extra good. Minus a few seasons.

Oregon is up 7 at halftime after going on a 15-3 run to close the first half, capped by Bittle's logo three before the buzzer. They're turning it over a little too much but they've shot decently from three and overall. Need another strong half.

Oregon drops a tough one as Northwestern hit a shot with 1.8 seconds to retake the lead. Just a sloppy, inefficient 2nd half for the Ducks. With this loss, Oregon will have to likely play on the opening day of the Big Ten Tournament instead of getting a bye.

Disappointing loss! Yeah that was a blatant travel that college basketball refs are generally too inept to call, but Oregon never should’ve been on that situation. Terrible defensive effort in the second half.

20 wins in college basketball is like 8 wins in college football, so it’s good but nothing amazing.
I’m not trying to argue that he’s a bad coach or hasn’t had good seasons, he has been good. I’m just saying, the focus is so heavy on the late season “magic” which only appears to be “magic” cause of how much the team underperformed in the middle of the season which Altman seems to get an excuse from Oregon fans.
