After Oregon's ace pitcher Lyndsey Grein missed the regional this past weekend, she finally explained on IG just how serious it was. Just looking at the picture of her swollen eye, it's amazing she even attended the games given she was up in a Portland hospital for nearly a week.
Hey everybody! This past week has for sure been a wild ride for myself and my family…
Upon returning from the BIG 10 tournament, I noticed swelling in my left eye. After some time on antibiotics and worsening symptoms, my roommates made the decision to take me to the hospital. According to my doctors, that decision saved not only my sight, but my life. Sunday evening I was admitted and, on Monday, transferred to a hospital in Portland. I was discharged after five days in the hospital, but was instructed by my doctors to not participate in softball as I still had open wounds (high risk of infection) and was unable to open my eye.
I share this with you as a reminder that God is so good and life is so precious. As challenging as it was to step away from softball, I can’t express how much care and love I received from my family, teammates, coaches and care team and the peace I felt knowing that God was with me every step of the way. Even though His plan didn’t align with mine, I trust that His ways are far greater than mine.
With that being said, here’s my big sister advice: don’t miss an opportunity to love on those around you, remember that joy can be found in the good and in struggle…so find it, and don’t take a moment of this life for granted. Praise God for every breath you take!
I am incredibly blessed to have the best friends and teammates on the planet and found so much joy watching them compete this past weekend (even if it was only with one eye).
Thank you all so much for your love and support and God Bless <3
