There's been talk Sean Parker might visit. But until he does, there isn't much hope.

He's a great athlete though, and we do need a safety. Right now we still got Erick Dargan in play, who I hope we land.

Oh, he's a big time athlete. He has an offer from literally every school in the country. I'm just not getting too excited until he visits.

Narrowed his choices down, Oregon not on it.

Oregon's officially out of it.

I think that if we take another safety, it'll probably be Collinsworth. Dargan doesn't sound like he likes UO that much and Parker's eliminated us.

Where are people getting this about Dargan, I actually think were in pretty good shape for him.

If one reads everything out there re Dargan - and it ain't a lot - it's difficult to get a read on the kid. Some say that if Cal offered he'd jump on it, but that's not based on any quote from Erik himself, but could be from some who knows him, etc. As of today Cal hasn't offered, but they could be slow playing him, but that's not usually their style.

He has been quoted as saying he's waiting to find a place where he just feels real comfortable at. Some have extrapolated from those statements that possibly he doesn't have the warm fuzzies for us since he's tripped and hasn't said much about us along those lines, etc. Others have said that Ucla could be the fave as he hasn't taken that trip yet. My bet is they will emerge as the favorite if he takes that trip. Cal would be too if they offer. We're definitely still in it, but not holding my breath.

Collinsworth just committed to Notre Dame.

yeah I know, I'm not sure who we look at now. Maybe we wait till next year, or maybe Dargan likes UO more than it sounds like.

Oregon needs to start getting some safeties since our depth after this year is not all that great. We lose Ward and Titus Jackson (although he doesn't play much on D, he is a valuable ST player). All we got then are Boyett, Lewis, Marvin Johnson, and Brian Jackson. That kind of depth is not good, considering the amount of injuries we've sustained the past couple of years. We got lucky that our depth this year wasn't further depleted, but it just seems that the coaches haven't been getting the safety recruits that they need to build up the depth chart. Most of the DB recruits this year don't seem to be CBs who don't have the body type to become a safety. I would say that Malone would likely not move to LB and stay at one of the safety spots.

Don't forget about Isaac Dixon and James Scales who are commits that the coaches hope will alleviate some of the safety depth concern in coming years.
