"I really like the focus on academics as part of the big picture; It's not just about football," Godfrey told Scout.com.
Considering that Godfrey has stated very recently that he wants the opportunity to play QB in college (He is listed by ESPN, Scout, and Rivals as a 3 star prospect.), it's interesting that the article states he will probably play WR for South Florida.
Depending on which site you check, Godfrey is listed at 5'11-6', and 167-180 lbs, with 4.6 speed.

...so the title of your post begs the obvious question...what do you know about S. Florida academics?

That wasn't the point, as much as the kid was choosing academics over (Potentially) his love for being a QB. (Godfrey does currently sport a GPA in the 3.6 range.)
South Florida is actually considered "Public Ivy", meaning they provide an Ivy League quality education, for a public school price...
Happy, Hines?
Now if it was Florida State, we'd have some real talking points...

well i've heard of the Public Ivy thing as well but i just don't understand if you knew the moniker that comes w/ the school, why write that title? i just don't understand your point or question i guess. he's playing football at his college of choice and on top of that, it has good academics for a public school. couldn't we say the same for ALL of the pac 10 or big 10 or ACC? sooooo....are you questioning his logic of schools or what? i mean, isn't that why kids who play football at stanford chose stanford in the first place? great academics and a pretty good football school. godfrey chose central florida because it has good academics and a good football team. maybe i'm just missing something. no skin off my back. the kids happy w/ his school. great for him and his family. life goes on.

I don't know about the place more generally, but South Florida's math and physics department are less distinguished than those of most of the Pac 10 schools.

Its tier 3 school, he is obiviously just saying academics are important. My guess is that he is actually going there because other schools backed off.

Didnt Oregon back off Godfrey because he had grade issues? Hopefully he got it all together and is focusing on academics a little more, more power to the kid if he succeeds.
Hines why are so negative ALL the time? If you cant say anything nice ever, then dont say anything at all.

lol at people calling USF a public IVY. Public IVYs are Cal, UCLA, Virginia, Michigan, etc. Not USF.

I am not sure where you got that and what you are getting at... My point was that USF is NOWHERE near being a public IVY. It was funny to me that people were implying that it was. But it is not uncommon for woundedknees to act like he knows something when he doesnt.

It was a joke, I would have included a

but I thought it was in poor taste if I laughed at my own joke.

Thanks for the complement, 2010!
If you want a pissing match, feel free to look elsewhere. I have better things to do than try putting people on this forum in their place.
