is it too much to hope that this is literal and we won't have to hear this "the sky is falling!" talk from you until at least then???

Why don't you head up to MtHdMdws for a couple weeks, SEPDX?

You might find a cooling off period refreshing.

I never said the sky was falling.

I stated that Chip Kelly can't close.

It is the absolute truth and not one of you has challenged or even attempted to debate that statement.

Who is Kelly's greatest recruiting coup thus far?

If you answered Chris Harper, you would be correct. How did that one work out for us?

Your collective silence is deafening.

...and Mt Hood Meadows sucks, fyi(former pass holder for 10+ seasons). Unless you enjoy long lift lines and being surrounded by a$$holes. I'll take T Line everyday of the week FWIW. Good people, smaller crowds, shorter drive.

I was merely suggesting you might enjoy getting out in the cool refreshing winter blast.

I haven't said a thing about the quality of your experience there.

Man, you sound kind of bitter in the new year. I actually think that Kelly's best pickup was LaMichael James, but it could ultimately be Darron Thomas if he develops as expected. To me, Chris Harper doesn't seem like a coup at all since it seemed Oregon was a back-up plan after the coaching turmoil at KSU made him choose Oregon. Him transferring back to KSU seemed like the best fit for him and Oregon.

While Kelly hasn't exactly set the recruiting world on fire for Oregon, he's still building his and Oregon's name across the country. As long as Oregon continues to compete for the conference title and a BCS game every year, he will get the type of recruits that all of the big schools get. If you think that Oregon is at the same level of recruiting as a USC, Ohio State, or Florida, then you are expecting way too much since those programs have decades of tradition while Oregon still has to build theirs. Those programs also have the built-in advantage of playing in very talent rich areas in which they don't have to go very far in order to get recruits. Oregon on the other hand has to go everywhere it can to find talent since the state of Oregon doesn't produce the number of D1 recruits that Oregon needs to fill out its roster. Unless the state of Oregon starts producing more D1 talent, Oregon will always be forced to go after out-of-state recruits to fill a majority of the roster. When you start going out-of-state, you end up going up against some big name schools for recruits and Oregon will not always win these battles. Oregon is just now getting on the national stage for recruiting, so they are going to take their lumps before the reap any high rewards.

Dontae Williams picked us over Ohio State
Darron Thomas picked us over Florida, LSU, and Miami.
Cliff Harris picked us over SC and Nebraska

BOOM. Now go away troll.

I am not a troll. You are a moron. I am going to prove this by picking apart your post point-by-point.

1)Dontae Williams was recruited by Coach Campbell. He has not signed a letter of intent, nor has he played a down of college football. Fact.

2)Darron Thomas was NEVER offered a scholarship by Miami. Fact. He has never contributed to a Duck win, may or may not ever start for UO(Hawkins?).

3)Cliff Harris was recruited by Coach Neal. Might end up being the best Duck CB ever, certainly a very talented player.

So your entire argument for Chip Kelly being a good recruiter is based off our current third string quarterback, that has yet to make a significant contribution to Oregon football.

Compelling and rich. Somewhere a village is missing it's idiot.

Sorry, but you are proving yourself the idiot. Your argument boils down to "if they commit, it was a position coach. If they don't it is on Kelly." Very intelligent.

nice "facts" there, but you might want to make sure they're based in reality. If you're going to downplay Darron Thomas' future, then how about this: Dominique Easley has never contributed to a win for any college team. Ever. Fact.

Beat me to it.

BTW, as Kelly is now the head coach, he is allowed 1 in home visit/recruit, so saying he can't close is BS. The bulk of face to face contact is definitely going to fall to assistants.

also, if Hawkins ends up starting over Thomas guess who his main recruiter was?

how about LMJ?

gotta stop this senseless Duck on Duck violence. I get tired of losing out on the biggies too, but I don't blame Kelly. He did a great job in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year aftewr the graduates and then the injuries.

I'd love to see some top DT commits, and I'm bummed about Easley, but what else is new for the Ducks? The only five-star I can remember at that spot was Ngata, and MB had to almost steal him at the last.
