RB Dillon Baxter

It sounds like Oregon is possibly trying to go after USC commit Dillon Baxter, the #4 RB in the country, in this article:
"His high school recruiting coach has already been flooded with calls from programs like Florida, Oregon, Tennessee, U.C.L.A. and Arizona, he said."

We must not be to confident in Lache.
I dont think we need 3 backs in this class.

I think you contact the most talented players available and see who you can get.

Well we did have Grant and Williams at one point. Would we have stopped recruiting Lache or Latts? No, of course not.
Same logic applies here. We have Dontae already. We could get Lache, and still take Latts or some other big time RB (like Baxter).

Aren't we still "after" Mack Brown as well?
Baxter looked pretty good in the AAA game. He would be crazy if he thinks that he will get better numbers in USC's offense.... especially considering their current situation.

they were talking about baxter being used a lot of different ways for sc. as a rb, slot and also as the wildcat. we can put up dual 1,000 yd backs and we could see the same thing happen at oregon that sc had; a gluttony of backs trying to prove who's best

I firmly believe that USC was telling the kid what he wanted to hear. I don't think that they honestly intended on rewriting their playbook for this kid. I bet he would have been like the rest of the USC backs, wasting away on the depth chart, hoping for his shot to get 600 or so rushing yards in their vanilla offense.

As far as I know, Mack is still a possibility. Honestly, it feels like we are in it with every top 10 RB that hasn't committed, so I don't know what to think.
I see it like this: Any 5 star athlete that has interest in your program, you offer and you try to get to come to your school. Unless of course, the recruit has problems such as attitude, grades, etc.

Isn't Brown supposed to visit this month? Or was that just a rumor?

Honestly I don't know. I remember reading on DT or scout that Mack Brown was publicly committed to Florida, but was still looking around. I wouldn't stress about it too much anyway because Lache and Latts are better RBs, and now with Baxter possibly in play, we have so many options as it is.

From everything I've read out there, we "were" a player for Brown very recently, but probably not now.
As for Baxter, he is an incredibly versatile player that any program in the country would luv to have. He's been a Trojan since his FR year in high school from what's reported about him. If he stays patient during this topsy turvy sitaution then I believe he'll end up at SC. On the other hand, it could come down to if he feels Carroll "betrayed" him and wants to now stick it to them. Would he come all the way up here? It's going to be a very interesting next few wks.

Tremendous talent. I was sure when he announced he was opening up his recruiting the Ducks would approach him.
The same elite class of RB talent as Lache and LMJ with Passing ability to boot. I always thought Wildduck for our team was stupid because Masoli was such a good runner that you gained nothing in a WildDuck while losing the option to pass, but Baxter spelling a Thomas or Bennett for some plays would be intriguing.

Baxter now seriously considering OREGON and FLORIDA... as well as waiting to see who USC hires. The kid wants to be a Trojan real bad, so don't get your hopes up.

That's great that the 2 other possible schools are us and Florida.
It really blows me away how far we've come, I know I've said it a lot, but it's true.
Maybe Nick Dashel will be totally wrong about the Ducks getting into the nation's truly elite programs, kinda like he was about Cal this year.
