One thing I hate about this situation

is how Ernie is being treated through all of this. Fine, so he isn't the coach to take us into the new arena, or so it would appear without an amazing turnaround, and its pretty obvious he is not a good X's and O's coach...but, the man has been and always will be a devoted duck...He has always loved this University, and his job, and done his best to put the best out there....now, I don't mind people saying its time to move in a different direction, and that he has done what he could, but I prefer that people respect Ernie. I kinda wish that in some way they could honor him at his last game, but, as a coach...its kinda hard to do, and I don't expect him to step down, He has his dream job, and it is going to be difficult as hell for him to give it up, if and most likely when he loses it this offseason...He still led us to two Elite Eights, pretty astounding in my mind, but not enough to save his job. Do I hate where we are now? Of course I do, but, it isn't a new coach, or some guy that was hired out of some no name college....or a Lane Kiffin. Ernie has mostly been a standup guy throughout...He made a few mistakes of course, but, he has done his best to atone for them. In the meantime he has done a great job getting his players to graduate early, and with consistency...he has turned Oregon into a location where we can get high level recruitsl....without a miracle it is pretty obvious he is not the man to take us to the next level, but, on a program level....he did take us up a notch, and I respect him for that. Ernie will always be a Duck, bleeding Green and Yellow, I just hope as fans seeing a down time, and come his last games, we don't forget that.

The problem with Kent is he's not just a bad coach. He really rubs a lot of people the wrong way. He comes off as very arrogant & aloof, like hes above anyones criticizm. The guy never stops "selling" what he is doing & how he coaches. Hes pretty much a politician that coaches bball and that annoys the crap out of people. I like kent bu I can't listen to him talk for more than 30 seconds.

I think this is exactly Broph's point...I've never once taken Ernie as what you said...Not even a little bit...He always seemed very passionate about his players and the school...Never arrogant...If he was white would you be saying that?...I hate to bring up the race card but I'm sorry, you saying that doesn't leave me many other conclusions.

 It leaves you plenty of other conclusions if you weren't arrogant yourself and understood that it's possible for people to come to different conclusions than you for legitimate reasons. Calling someone a racist because they have a different impression of a black man is pathetic. I don't even agree with dthomas but that's just ridiculous.

If everyone loves him, why have you seen players leave the program? Also, he is like a salesman. He never wants to address the real problems. He says stuff that might be positive, but isn't true. How many times has he said the team was "growing" over the years when it wasn't? The majority of Oregon fans are smart enough to realize that his act is old.

I didn't call him racist...That was my reasoning for posing it as a question and not calling him out as that...More so trying to call it to his attention, thus the reason for saying I hate to bring it out...But in what way is he arrogant?...And being a salesman persay is a Coach's job, whether winning or losing...This team is growing, you're going to hear that alot in college sports because they are young men growing...Would you rather come out and say they're not mature enough to compete yet a high level all game every game so your gonna be flashes of both good and bad with a bunch of mediocre in between...No, no one including the players want to hear that

He comes off as arrogant sometimes because he so rarely takes responsibility. I honestly can't remember a single quote of his about not having an adequate game plan, fucking up our entire roster (EIGHT graduating seniors is something we have to look forward to... Awesome.), not preaching simple things like free throw shooting (this isn't all on him, but it's been a long time since we've been legit at shooting free throws, and he needs to find a way to improve that).

And you posed it as a rhetorical question. Those are meant to indicate a certain answer. You were implying that no, he wouldn't of said it if Kent was white. It wasn't like you were actually curious, you clearly thought that dthomas' comment was based on race. And that's really unfair to dthomas.

None of what you said had anything to do with arrogance...I gleaned from his comment that he was taking Kent's confindence as arrogance...yet Chip Kelly is over confident and arrogant and that is mentioned...I apologize if it was taken as saying he's racist...I agree I was implying that and also that it was based on race, but not saying he's a racist...There's a large difference between being racist and making different judgments on people due to the color of their skin

Thinking differently about a person based on their race is actually the definition of racism... And actually, not acknowledging your faults is being arrogant. I don't think Kent is THAT arrogant at all, but there's certainly come basis for dthomas to think so.

I disagree with your definition of racism...Yes it may be the base definition of it...But some things are inherent...They don't even have to be bad or malicious...Such as people assuming a Kenyan can run, or a black person is athletic, or a white person can't jump...Those aren't racist but they are judgments due to the color of the skin...and yes I said black person on purpose instead of african-american because the majority of black people I know are offended by that because they are American and not from Africa

Wait... So it WOULDN'T be racist to assume Kent is arrogant because he's black? :?

And way to drop the whole "acknowledging your faults" argument.

I'm not saying that, I'm saying it's something that can be done by someone who's not a racist, as in I don't think Dthomas is a racist and wasn't trying to say that...And sorry the racism thing got my attention as it's a pressing subject...Not acknowledging your faults can be arrogant for sure...But it's not like he get's called out on something and he's like no that's not it...He does say we didn't play like we wanted or they stopped our game plan so those are admitting faults...I'm not gonna expect him to come out and say I suck, that would be narcissistic at best
