Very Interesting.....

Article by Pat Forde pointing out some weird things in Hairston's commitment. I wouldn't put any of it past Ernie, not for a second.

What is it you wouldn't put past Ernie? There is absolutely nothing in that article that indicates Ernie did anything wrong, so I don't know what you are talking about.dthomas=ddixon wrote:http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/ ... ortCat=ncb

All this article does is show Payne has connections with people in the Midwest. This helps when the Ducks attempt to recruit that area. Hello? That is how recruiting works. There is nothing secretive or unscrupulous about it.

I really don't know what Kent has ever done that makes you "not put is past him". It's one thing to criticize his coaching, it's another thing to insult his character

Judging from the tone of the article, with Pat Forde I would presume.

Everyone makes mistakes man. But he's been a stand-up guy 99% of the time and he doesn't deserve to be insulted on a personal level like thatduckgrad99 wrote:Didn't he cheat on his wife or something?

I agree, the main focus should be on his job which is coaching. At the same time, he has had issues with players every season.

Whoah guys, calm down. I wasn't "insulting his character", I just don't think it would be that crazy to assume EK, or any coach for that matter, would hire an assitant if it helped him get one of the top players in the country. That's all I was saying, I wasn't accusing Kent of cheating on his wife or anything like that.

Re: Very Interesting.....
Here's another take (on an article so old)...I have been hearing for the past couple of years from one side that EK needs to go. Then those folks on the other side scream "But he is such a great recruiter! He brings in great kids from all over the country!" Maybe it isn't EK that is bringing these kids in. Not saying EK isn't involved but I think after reading this article we need to question (not make rash judgments, but at least question) what role EK plays in recruiting this top talent. Is he just very nice and personable like many coaches or is it the fact that "he" is the coach that brings in these big recruits? If his role is smaller than we all thought, what other reasons do the keep EK around folks have up there sleeve.
That being said, I have never been a big fan of EK nor have I been calling for his head on a daily basis. I am only interested in sticking with what is working and fixing what isn't/ If that means EK goes or stays I am all for it.
Thoughts...?
I really would like to know what others think about this, I am thinking of writing a paper on the subject for a class of mine.

That doesn't belong on here. That is his personal life and it doesn't belong on this board.duckgrad99 wrote:Didn't he cheat on his wife or something?

Re: Very Interesting.....
Honestly, I disagree. His recruiting has been strongly based on his personal, and religious beliefs. If that is what he is going to bring to the table, then he needs to be upstanding in those areas of his life. PERSONALLY I dont care what he does in his off time, but when HE brings his beliefs into recruiting he has opened the door. You dont get to pick and choose when your religious for recruiting purposes.duckgrad99 wrote:ducksin2010 wrote:That doesn't belong on here.
