I was thinking not a chance, until I looked at the Pac-10 standings. With not a lot of surprises in other conference tourneys , I expect that Cal, ASU, and UW are all going to make it to the NCAA tourney. USC is not eligible and OSU, UCLA, Stanford are all below 0.500 which means they are out. That leaves Arizona WSU, and Oregon as potential teams the NIT could select. Arizona is probably a lock and Oregon I would think would at least get a look, especially after winning 4 of their last 5 and sweeping WSU this year.

If they lose to Cal, they will be 16-16. They finished at the bottom of a bad conference. Most of the bubble teams that don't make the NCAA tournament will probably have a better case than Oregon for the NIT. Personally, I don't care if the ducks get selected for the NIT or CBI. Yes it gives them more experience, but I really only care about the bigger tourny.

Agreed, getting into the NIT is not an achievement, and there is really no need for the CBI to even exist. It's like the Humanitarian bowl of basketball tournaments.

the only way I see us taking a cbi bid is if we decide to buy a little time and let the the first weekend of the tourney play out and then if some of our target coaches teams are knocked out then you don't have to wait as long to talk to them

Wow, looks like ASU might fall to the NIT after losing to Stanford tonight.

Nope. Oregon didn't make the NIT field of 32. I just saw it on Bob Clark's blog over at the RegisterGuard.com. ASU was the only Pac-10 team to make it in.

So Kent should be let go any day then.

Can't believe they invited OSU with a record of 14-17. Probably only because they were running out of teams that would accept an invite.

Maybe Oregon was invited but they turned it down. It doesn't make financial sense and we all know the coach and maybe even some players will be gone so the argument of it gets them more playing time doesn't apply.

I am surprised Oregon was interested in playing in the CBI. The fact that a team with a losing record, OSU (14-17) was invited makes the tournament a joke IMO.

I could care less about the CBI. It's a losers tournament. The NIT is bad enough.

It's probably because they won the CBI last season.

It also doesn't hurt that the organizer of the CBI is Craig Robinson's agent.
