Taking Pittsburgh third-string quarterback Dennis Dixon under his wing this season has been Pittsburgh backup quarterback Byron Leftwich. But first he had a score to settle with the rookie out of Oregon.

It appears Leftwich had a bet riding on Dixon winning the Heisman Trophy his senior year in 2006.

"When I first met him I told him, 'you know you messed up, man, I had you winning the Heisman,'" Leftwich explained. "I had a little bet with somebody that he would win the Heisman and when he got hurt, I told him, 'man I've been waiting to see you for a long time to tell you how you messed up my bet.'"

Dixon laughed when relayed Leftwich's version of the story.

"Yeah, he was kind of mad, a long with a couple of other people on the team," Dixon said.



Evidently the Steelers believe in Dixon!

It's true though, I am still bitter about 2007, there is no question Dixon would have won the Heisman and the Ducks would have won the NC!!!!!

It's too bad he wasn't prepared to go to the NFL...

cool story, but again, what does this have to do with duck recruiting? maybe it should go elsewhere than in the war room...just sayin
