Few offered and coming?
Media from Spokane have finally reported for the first time to my knowledge that Few maybe leaning to taking the Oregon gig.

Well if this is the worse case scenario I think we are going to be in good shapeMops wrote:Media from Spokane have finally reported for the first time to my knowledge that Few maybe leaning to taking the Oregon gig.

Re: Few offered and coming?
Personally, I would be perfectly fine with this hire. Gonzaga has been consistent over the years, Oregon hasn't. I have enjoyed the way Gonzaga has played under Few, and they have actually had several big men that could actually play. Honestly, I'm not sure how realistic guys like Donovan, Dixon and Turgeon are. If their is mutual interest, I wouldn't be surprised to see Few named the next Oregon coach within the next week or two.

Few is probably about number 4-5 on my wish list, but at the same time I don't think he will ever leave Eugene. One thing that can't be denied about him is he coaches his players up, and regardless of playing in a supposed weak conference, he did play some very tough non league games. Nothing against Kent, but he is a step up from EK, which is what the UO boosters and fans are looking for.

Totally agree. While he isn'y my #1 guy I still think he's a really good coach & will be very happy to have him. He's gonna get the best out of his players & have good gameplans. Thats all I want & thats what wins games when you have the talent. And probably the best part, he won't be going anywhere. EK said we wouldn't be able to find anyone who loves the UO like he does, well Few is a pretty close second. Native Oregonian & a UO grad.buckmarkduck wrote:Few is probably about number 4-5 on my wish list, but at the same time I don't think he will ever leave Eugene. All I want out of the basketball program is to win 22-27 games a season, make the tournament and advance at least one round. Mark Few will do that, so I'm happy.

Really hope this isn't going to happen. Few would be an ok hire, but I'd rather have Dixon, Turgeon, and even Alford. Unfortunately, it looks like the AD feels that it is more important to hire an alum than a good coach. Don't they learn from past mistakes?

I wonder if this rumor will have legs. There has to be compliance with the minority candidate interview state law, and people will be unhappy if it seems like we already have our guy and that we aren't really serious about any minority candidates we do interview.

Few is a good coach. He has been coveted by other top programs like Arizona.

Yeah I could live with this hire. I'm slightly disappointed if we end up with Few just because it sounded like we would end up with a big coach.buckmarkduck wrote:Few is probably about number 4-5 on my wish list, but at the same time I don't think he will ever leave Eugene. The Few hire could end up turning great, but I would just feel more comfortable with Dixon or Turgeon.

IMO,Few just doesn't have the luster to the fan base that Dixon or Turgeon would have.UOducksTK1 wrote:Yeah I could live with this hire. I understand that we want to generate excitement, but I care way more about getting a coach that can win than a coach who's name makes people buy tickets. People will buy tickets next year. But we need to win to keep our new arena filled.
