A 3* DT with good size at 6'4 321. If we miss on Justin Brown do we go after this kid? He has a lot of schools with medium interest but no offers.

Why not take both if there is room?

Personally, I'm always skeptical when a player has no offers.

Here is another player that looks decent, yet has no offers.

no offers means proabable school issues IMO.

meh, I don't think so. We have two JC DT's coming in this class, then we have a few highly rated HS DT's looking at us next year. I say we take a small class and try loading up next year where there seems to be more talent all around.

If you take guys just to take guys, you just migh end up with a Laidet or scare of quality the next season.

Some of you may not realize that the # of scholarships available each year to new commits is limited to 25?

Even though the Ducks (Or any other program) could potentially receive more than that number, they would only be allowde to honor 25/year.

The other schollies would need to be given to walk-ons, or something similar, IIRC, so saving the extras isn't much of an option.

Unless you pull in some JCs next year, then they can count against this year if there are extras.

I really like what I have seen from Armstrong. In my opinion, he will be one of those players that didn't get a great deal of attention when the Ducks signed him, but will be a very good player in the future.

I agree. As far as prospects go I think Armstrong is head and shoulders above Burrell. Burrell reminds me too much of Jermaine Randolph when he signed. Randolph too needed to add a lot of weight, and in the end just didn't seem to have what it took to compete at the Pac-10 level. I hope I'm wrong with Burrell. I hope he is able to add good weight and that Greatwood knew what he was doing in offering him.

I had heard that Armstrong's father played in the NFL and that usually points to good things. Look at J.D. Nelson and Jairus Byrd who were both two star recruits with NFL dads.

Don't forget Casey Matthews. His dad is a former NFLer & it definitely shows in Casey's play.

Ryan Shaw was also a son of a NFL player (Pete Shaw).


I thought Kenny Washington was as well.
