+1

He was second on my list behind Dixon

We must have been looking at the same list then! I loved the idea of bringing Dixon on board. Anyone that can win in the Big East can win in the Pac 10.

In regards to Monty, do you want to call Kilkenny or shall I?

Not a surprise. It's going to be a major dissappointment if Oregon has to settle, and we probably wouldn't get a recruit like Jones if that ends up happening. Oh well, I'm still glad that Kent is gone, and things couldn't get much worse as far as results.

I know he is local because he works for Portland, but what's the fascination with him? He has no college coaching experience or head coaching experience in general. I just don't see it happening.

As I have posted, I would love for the Ducks to bring in Monty Willams and I feel his hiring would also put us in the drivers seat for a player like Terrance Jones. With Jones growing up in the area I am sure he is very familiary with Monty Williams and would feel comfortable following him Eugene.

There is a lot to like about Monty Williams.

If we had to take a "shot" at someone I would prefer it to be him.

but I agree with you, I don't think it will happen

Great question and I honestly don't know much as far as his coaching philosophy goes but I do know that he is highly regarded in many basketball circles, has been in the topic of discussion whenever a NBA position has become available, and the guy is an overall great man. I have been to a couple events, including one at a local church for a men's breakfast, where he has spoken and he has a way with words. Monty is absolutely a guy I would want my kids (if I had any) to be mentored by and I know he would represent the University the way few coaches could.

Monty has said that he would jump at the chance to coach a college program like Oregon, so I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that maybe Oregon is waiting until the NBA season is nearly done to talk to him and other NBA coaches about the job. While that may hurt Oregon in getting Jones or Ross, it may be better for them to wait.

Stevens turned us down? How do you know? Another twitter report? Really?!

Good Lord guys, stop believing everything thats reported on freaking twitter & ducksportsnews. PK & the search firm are the only ones that actually know anything. We will end up with a really good coach. Just be patient.

Why we should get Monty Willaims in my opinion, He is young and can coach. He is young so he can relate to the recruits. He is a family man, it's been reported in several artivles I've read on him. He is involved with the AAU scene, in my opinion if we get him, Jones and Ross are a guaranteed lock for recruits. The city of Portland loves him already for developing Batum and Travis Outlaw among several other Blazers. We know he can coach, we can all agree on that. The NBA teams are already trying to get him to coach. There are several other reasons, but overall I would have Monty as our number 1.
