So much for the "loyalty to your old friends" angle...

So the reports that Anderson turned us down weren't actually true?! No way! That hasn't happened at all during this coaching search, no wonder we fell for it.

Until there is definitive confirmation that Kilkenny is indeed talking with Anderson or any other coaches, I won't believe any of the rumors floating around.

As much as I want Oregon to pick a coach already, this back and forth stuff is kind of entertaining. When they actually do find a coach, they should put a bag over his head and say: "Your next Oregon coach is"............ and then reveal him. That would be better than when recruits sit there with hats from different schools.

Mike Anderson would be fun. He can obviously coach, he did some great things at UAB. And an elite 8 in just his 3rd season at Missouri is impressive.

His recruiting is solid. Take a look at his most recent class, it's loaded.

Even though Oregon isn't exactly a hotbed of talent, the Ducks have roamed the country with relative success under EK's regime for years... And Anderson has established excellent contacts in the region he would be leaving... You have to believe that would continue.

This may be the type of hire needed to secure commits from players such as the Terrences.

or we could line up three coaches and have each one of them sitting behind the table and when it's announcement time, have the real coach stand up "To-tell-the-truth" style, where they all start to stand up and then they look at each other and waver a little until the fake pics sit down and the real coach stands up....wow I'm bored.....

Is Oregon closing in on a coach?

The speculation increased Thursday that the month-long quest to replace Ernie Kent is nearing a conclusion, with one source indicating there could be an announcement today while another predicted “before the end of the weekend.”

If it is that soon, it seems likely that Oregon’s choice for a new coach is 50-year-old Mike Anderson, the head coach at Missouri for the past four seasons.

Pat Kilkenny, the former UO director of athletics who is heading the search, was in El Paso, Texas, on Thursday evening after spending time earlier in the week at his second residence in New York City. Also in El Paso was Anderson, to participate in a benefit golf tournament.

A source close to the search said that Anderson was of definite high interest to the Ducks, and a meeting had been planned between Anderson and Kilkenny to discuss the position. That source said there had been no firm offer made to Anderson, however, as of midnight.

This would be an EPIC hire. His offenses play like Oregon back in the Greg Graham era, back when we, y'know, actually ran with the basketball, instead of just saying that we'd "like to." His defenses get after it and would be a huge hit with the Matt Arena crowd. The guy knows how to build amazing homecourt advantages.

Get it done. Both Terrances would take LONG looks at Oregon with a guy like Anderson.

Oregon asked for permission to speak with Missouri coach Mike Anderson late Thursday night after it had already spoken with him at a golf event in El Paso, Texas.

A Missouri official confirmed Friday that Oregon, which fired Ernie Kent a month ago, asked to speak with Anderson. The Oregonian first reported that Anderson and former athletic director Pat Kilkenny, who is leading the job search, met Anderson earlier Thursday in Texas at Nolan Richardson's golf tournament. Anderson was on Richardson's coaching staffs at Tulsa and Arkansas.

Missouri athletic director Mike Alden told ESPN.com on Thursday afternoon that he had yet to hear from Oregon. The request came later that night.

Finally sounds like some definitive movement on the the coaching front. I wonder if he is a good enough coach to land us the Terrences.
