So how do we convince them to start going hard for Monty Williams
I still think he is the best hire for us. It would bring great things, I can see it now!!

i have been sayin this since day one

He has said he is interested in the job and he has connections to the local AAU scene which would really help with local recruiting. He may not have any college coaching experience but the NBA is as good of place as any to get experience, even if it is just as an assistant. You have to get the HC experience somewhere so why not start at Oregon.

He's the type of guy I felt we should have been targeting this whole time. After Dixon said no the search should have shifted to lower profile coaches like Brian Gregory, Monty Williams, Randy Bennet, etc. I think we will now & I'm confident we will end up with a very good coach.

I don't think that he has specifically said that he is interested in the Oregon job.

I don't think Monty Williams will interview for a job during a play off series, so we would have to wait tell their run is over.

I'm sure he would take the time to interview and listen to Oregon about the job.... but unfortunately I think there is a real good chance he would turn it down.

We will never know if he would turn the job if he is not even given a chance to interview.

I would rather have a coach with head coaching experience in the NBA or some coaching at the college level. IMO, he would be too much of an unknown.

That's about my only qualm with Monty Williams. We don't know how he would run a team and what kind of offensive and defensive systems he would install. But I would like to actually see some movement on the search instead of this stop and start pace that has developed. There really hasn't seemed to be any real interest shown by coaches that would be exciting for fans.

I think Giansante is blowing smoke. If they had the phone ringing off the hook, I would think that they would have had someone in place by now. It's probably just there way of saving face and not letting on that the search hasn't gone the way they want it.

And I agree, what happened to names like Rick Adelman and Avery Johnson? Was there mutual interest, or where those just names thrown out there by random people? I agree that we really have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a coach that nobody has talked about.

Supposedly one member of the Adelman clan chuckled about the idea, according to at least one report I saw (And no, I am not in the mood to track down that link. Have you any idea how many articles and postings this Duck coaching search has generated?).

The thing that puzzles me, is the fact that the schools who are filling positions on fairly short notice seem to have prospective coaches of the caliber they are choosing to pursue traveling to them for interviews, rather than the other way around.

Something about this process seems pretty Bass-Ackward to me.

Even though there is no way to tell how many coaches Kilkenny has actively contacted, this is starting to remind me of a girl who continually puts out on the first date, then wonders why the phone is ringing off the hook, but nobody is asking her to tie the Prom, let alone to tie the knot. (No offense, ladies!)
