who should we hire as coach?

Seeing as how everbody thinks ek should be gone and I will know jump on that bandwagon. Who should we hire to replace him. I know most people would say Mark Few as 1st choice. I would too because look at what happened to Turiaf when he was at Gonzaga under Few he went from a project to a nba draft pick who just signed a deal paying him 5-7 mill a year. There is the prime example of developing a big man who was nowhere near the hype of Dunigan. If we can't get Few then I think we should get a young, energetic coach who preaches defense and can develop big men. I'll throw out the coaches at Butler and Xavier as young coaches to look at as both have teams ranked in the top 15.

Wojokowski from Duke. A Krzyzewski student wouldn't hurt.

I would love the coach at Butler, don't know how realistic that is though. At this point I just want a young coach who can form a gameplan & develop players. Two thing Ernie has no idea how to do. With the new arena & our recent success recruiting isn't going to be that hard & honestly, besides the two great classes we've had, EK has never done a good job recruiting, himself.

I'll take just about anybody at this point EK is terrible and finally some people are coming around to realize it. We're staring 0-18 in the face and none of the players are getting better. Few would be the dream, but we'll see what happens

Bobby Knight. Sure he is a jerk, but you have to admit he would keep the players in line and is excellent at teaching the fundamentals of the game.

No freakin way....We do not need that ASS anywhere near here...
No more than we need Dennis Erickson as a FB coach...

One thing we do have is our pride and some level of respect...And that is something that we can ill afford to lose....

That's cool, I respect everyone's opinion here. To be perfectly honest, I would be happy with just about anyone except for Kent at this point.

I am sure there are a number of young talented coaches out there from smaller programs (Gonzaga, Xavier, Butler) that would love to move to a bigger program and coach the Ducks. As a coach it would be a perfect opportunity, you would inherit a team with talent that just needs to be coached, a school with some of the best facilities in the country, including a new $200+ million arena, the relationship with NIKE as a recruiting tool, a great fan base, etc. It could very well be the best open coaching job in the country next year.

Looks like Knight might end up a Georgia

I think this is going to end badly, to be honest. If the Athletic Department was going to fire EK, it should have happened last season. We have now probably missed out on two very good coaches that were interested in Oregon in Montgomery and Few. All indications from people close to the Arizona program is that Few will take that head coaching position next season.

I still think we should move on and grab a young and up and coming coach.

In no particular order: 1) Mark Few 2) Ken Bone 3) Bill Greir. Either of these three would be better than Ernie.

Here's a curve for ya...how about that female coach at TENN Pat Summitt! The only coach in history to win 1000 games...WOW!

It would be interesting hire but I doubt she leaves the women's game to come here...

Okay now blast me! :D

I heard Jody Runge was in attendance at the men's game last night. Unfortunately, the women's program is just as bad if not worse than the men's program right now. As far as the next coach, I'm glad Ernie can recruit some high ranked players, but I would rather lower ranked players if it meant getting more out of them. I want a coach that can really preach defense and teach an offense not to stand around all the time. Outside of Mark Few and a couple of others, I'm not sure who is available. I would imagine though that the Oregon job would be a very attractive one, especially with the new arena on it's way.

Not to be too sexist but I can't see a woman getting the respect of male players. I don't think it should matter because if you can coach you can coach. I just don't see it working.
