What if????

I do not mean to discredit anyone on here as am a new user to this board but with the disappointments this year recruiting I am wondering about one thing. What happens if Jackson and Gaines do not commit. I know we keep getting told that Jackson will. If memory serves me correctly all the experts were saying Boyd would sign with us and we all know what happened. Jackson has been quiet and Gaines isnt commenting until LOI day. I would love to say have faith in both of them signing but honestly given the merry-goround this year with recruits I am not buying much of anything unless comes directly from the recruit. It is nothing but speculation and been lot of misses so far. I think as Duck fans we need to be prepared for the scenario that neither of them sign. Will everyone still believe this is a good class if neither of them sign. As far as Bryce Brown goes I am like 99% sure he will sign with Miami whenever that day comes. Families are invoking their wises on their kids and forgetting what the kids want to do a la Boyd. Do not get me wrong I understand how important family is but when I went to college my folks left it up to me and supported me fully when i left the roost. Of course they missed me and wanted me close to home but they knew I was growing up and I needed my independence and they still loved me.

Well worst-case scenario, Tuinei doesn't qualify, we get no new WR's, whatever. Even then, we have some good talent already on the team and a passable amount of depth. But it means that next year, we'll have to actually pick up a few great WR's and they'll have to contribute pretty quickly. But we'll be okay if things go to hell

exactly. the sky wont fall... we'll just have to go hard in those areas next year and develop the talent that already exists on the roster.

Regardless of Gaines and Jackson, I really feel that someone like Jordan, Cantu, Embry, etc is really going to have to step up this year. As it is, we have very little experience coming back in terms of wide receivers.

Drew Davis
Jeff Maehl
Dion Jordan - I expect to see a lot of action for this young man 6'7".
How come I don't see Cantu on the roster??

So when does he show up on the roster? I see for 2009-10, he's not there. Does that change just before the Fall after everything completely fleshes out & everyone is enrolled? Sorry to ask a dumb question, but I've never really followed it that closely before. Thanks!

I think it might have something to do with greyshirting last year? But I could be wrong, let's hope he's enrolled now and ready to play this spring!

since he greyshirted, his scholarship will count towards this year's class. I'm guessing he will be added to the roster around the same time that the other new 09 recruits are added.

In regards to the question "Do you think this is still a good class", I say yes. The defensive pick ups are big enough to make up for the offensive meltdowns. Cliff Harris, Lokombo, Clay, Littlejohn, and Hart are good enough for me to be happy. I really like Hart because he is instate. As long as we pick up some good recruits next year at RB, QB, and WR the team will be fine.
It does suck to be in the middle of the PAC10 in class ranking when we have been consistently in the top 25 in the nation. That is only what the experts think and they really have no idea how recruits are going to turn out. Just look at the bowl picks that some of the experts had this year. It's hard for them to evaluate what is going to happen after a team has played all year let alone a player that has never been a part of a program that teaches them to be the best that they can be at their position.

Dion Jordan is up to 240 lbs and has been moved to TE according to the mods at Rivals. Our TE Depth Chart is crazy good
Dickson
Ward
Jordan
Lewis
Rivera

All I have to say is, why? He was recruited as a wide receiver. We are thin at that postion have have tight ends for the next few years.

we also have david paulsen at TE as well...he was a pretty legit recruit out of high school as well, though i'm not sure how he's looked since redshirting. Regardless, we are loaded at that position

From the sounds of it Jordan was recruited at WR much like Harper was recruited as a QB. He was given his chance now he is 6'7 and 240 so he fits in at TE better. This also means we will prolly see Dickson spread out at WR a lot more.
