Terrence Jones announcing his decision on Friday

A news conference is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday at Jefferson High School for senior basketball star Terrence Jones and three of his classmates to announce their college plans, Jefferson coach Pat Strickland confirmed Wednesday.

I think there's a chance that he could end up at Kentucky, but he may also want to stay close to home in which case, he's UW bound. If he heads up to UW, they will have the conference locked up next years and maybe even for the next two years. I'm hoping that he goes to Kansas.

And I would love to win the lottery, but that isn't happening.

Jones was likely waiting to see who would coach at Oregon and may have seriously considered the program if Izzo, Donovan, or Tubby came here. Probably Capel too since he seems to love him.

If Jones is thinking one and done, he'll head to Kentucky. I have a bad feeling that he's going to head up to Seattle though.

If UW does land Jones, Ben Howland could be on the hot seat in a few years...

If we don't get Jones, then getting Polee is that much more important. The positive thing with Polee is he is going to be more long term than Jones would be if he came down here since Jones is probably only a 1-2 season player while Polee will is going to need all 4 years to probably even sniff the pros.

I would love the idea of Jones at Oregon but I just dont see him being a one and done player. Maybe at Kentucky where he is surrounded by 4 other All American players but not much else of a chance beyond that. From the two games I have seen him play in (the USA vs World and Brand Jordan games) I was never blown away by his game and felt like he just blended in most of the time with other players controlling the game. With that said, welcome aboard Jones!! Stay local!

I don't think there's any question that Jones will be a one-and-done. There's no way you can judge a player based on an all star game. Jones has the handles, athleticism, and shot to dominate for a year (if he's motivated) and move on. He'd be a top 10 pick this year if he were eligible for the draft.

I'd rather have him choose Kentucky than Washington. With him not choosing Oregon in all liklihood, I think that Oregon's only chances at getting commitments are from Polee and Loyd. From the way Altman has spoken the last few days, it doesn't seem as if he's expecting any big commitments from the Terrences. Not having Payne or a full coaching staff for so long really hurt Oregon and not having Payne on the staff now with a coach in place doesn't help either. Altman will probably save up on scholarships and hand out 4 scholarships next year after having a full season to coach and have recruits look at the program with a coaching staff not in danger of being fired.

If Jones and Ross go to Washington, that would really hurt. We would be losing two top in state recruits to our rival up north.
