Where's the Meltdown?

Isn't that what Oregon forum boards are supposed to be doing after losing arguably the best in-state duo in years to the Fuskies?
Maybe Duck fans aren't as unsophisticated as the media would like?

All of the rumors were pointing to them not choosing Oregon so our hopes weren't as high.

I thought he was going to Kentucky so I was more disappointed in him going to UW.. I don't really want to play him.

It sucks, but whatever, there is really nothing we could do. I wouldn't expect him to pick Oregon when we didn't have a coach. If Oregon had hired a coach a few weeks earlier, and then we missed out on Jones, then you'd see me throwing a hissy fit.
Good luck to TJ. I just hope he leaves after one year.

Maybe there will be people at Oregon's games imploring him to leave early.

The reality is we just came off 9th & 10th place finishes in conference & fired our coach. Unless we had hired Izzo or coach K I wouldn't have expected any 5* recruit to come here. On top of it he's probably a one & done guy, not gonna help us rebuild for a few years, & theres a chance he doesn't even qualify.
It wasn't really a loss, you can't lose something you never had a shot at.

Yeah, he's gone after this year. Hopefully he has the same impact up there Spencer Hawes had (which is to say, none). Ross is more of a concern, IMO, because he'll be there for awhile, and he can develop into one hell of a guard under Romar.
Altman has Wiltjer (2011) and Tebutt (2012) coming up. Hopefully he can put up that fence.

Funny how often we hear fans complaining in one breath about the failure to keep 5 star players, such as Jones, instate, then write them off as, "One and Done".
Most true 5 star guys are probably thinking one and done... It will be interesting to see what happens if Oregon actually does start landing those kids consistently.
The only thing I see as a true negative, is the way it will affect things such as graduation rates and academic progress index, which have become so much more important in the 'new' NCAA.
God forbid the Ducks get a kid with an OchoCinco attitude toward academics on a regular basis.

You have to add in Landen Lucas (2012) but I have a feeling that he'll also be considering the Beavs and some other. The 2011 and 2012 classes will really determine if Altman can get the program turned around in the first couple of years. If the Ducks only get Polee and Loyd this year, there will be 4 open scholarships for the 2011 class. The 2012 will have at least 5 openings so I could see them possibly going with a JC player or two.

I think most duck fans knew we had no chance with the way the last 2 years went, and with the lenght of the coaching search. Plus Loosing Singler and Love was a much bigger loss then this. Both of those guys where rated above T.Jones, and both went on to do great things in college, so I guess we are use to it.

Sadly thats probly the main reason we're all OK with it. Think if we had fired Kent & gotten Altman a year ago(what we should have done IMO)... Jones & Ross would probably be Ducks.

I never had any expectation of landing them with or without Kent so I was and am looking forward to next seasons recruiting class with our new coach. Who knows he could still pull in a couple of guys who are not so highly rated but still pretty good for this class.

The only way there's any kind of meltdown on my part is if no recruits are signed this year and we go into the season with the roster as it is. I would hate to see Altman have to go into a season with only 9 players since he would have to use walk-ons to even get a 2-deep depth chart and then he would have 6 scholarships to fill next season. Kent's ineptitude over the last couple seasons could really come to bite this program in the butt for years to come. I think Altman is a good enough coach, though, to overcome Kent's mishandling of the program.

I love how people like to blame Kent for everything

Dude I know. The terrible class balance is all Kilkenny's fault. Not developing these players one bit is obviously Bellotti's fault & the losses? Those are on Phil Knight.
NOT.
