If he improves, maybe. But he just uses his height to make up for his mistakes, and that won't work for a 6'9 kid in college. He'd have to get better for me to get excited about him.

You guys do know he has offers from like 8 BCS level schools already....

I'm not a professional scout, I'm just saying what I see. From the 1 or 2 minutes I've seen of him, he doesn't look all that great. Maybe he will be, or maybe I haven't watched enough, or maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about.

I understand your concern TrayDub, but the kid has a 93 rating from ESPN already...

Landen Lucas, PF, NW Panthers: We closed a long day with our first look at Lucas and he didn’t disappoint. He’s got a body and game like Wayne Simien. Lucas, whose dad played at Oregon, is a natural rebounder who seemingly is a magnet for boards. He’s an average athlete but exceptional board man and a true post player. Lock high-major prospect and the best talent we saw on the first night.

Guess we will all see how he develops over the next 2 seasons.

I didn't realize his dad played at Oregon, that can only be a good thing. Time to build a fence around the state & keep those instate kids, IN STATE.

Who's his dad? I think that Altman will recruit the West Coast very thoroughly, especially if there are top flight prospects in-state. I don't think he can keep the type of players who have Duke or Kentucky offers, but I think he'll be able to at least get players who are BCS conference quality.

That entire 1st half of the video he was playing against larger people than him. He showed good patience, partly because you could tell he still thinks about his move, but that is his youth. Looks like a good passer and rebounder. Good form on the shot. I think he looks pretty dang good especially considering he may grow another couple inches and his confidence will continue to grow with experience. Very nice PF prospect in my opinion.

I believe it is Richard Lucas, still listed in the top 10 for rebounds during his career at Oregon. Found this from an old article in the LA Times, exactly the type of player the Ducks need.

At 6 feet 7 and 215 pounds, Lucas doesn't look like a typical Pac-10 center. He looks lanky when standing next to some of the big men roaming the conference these days, and most of the time, he has to look up at them.

But what Lucas concedes in size, he makes up for in heart.

This season, he is averaging 15.7 points and 9.2 rebounds (second in the conference) and is leading the Pac-10 in field-goal percentage (63.4%).

But numbers aside, Lucas fills a vital role for the Ducks, that of emotional leader. His competitive drive gets his teammates, not to mention the fans, pumped up.

"Richard is relentless," Monson said. "It's one of his best assets."

Hey it can't hurt that his dad is an Oregon alum. Also, Oregon has lost out on lots of talented players from in-state that have played meaningful minutes of college basketball at big programs. If Oregon can get some of the most talented ones, then the program will have a better chance at success since most programs are built around local kids.

Definitely not. I'm not one of those people who wants instate kids over everyone else. I want the best players. And Oregon has produced a ton of top 10, 5* kids recently & it would be a hell of a lot better to get them than the 3* left overs from Cali.
