A couple of guys Kelly visited last week

Orson Charles 4* #4 Rated TE (No interest in Ducks, down to Florida, Florida State, Georgia)
http://oregon.scout.com/a.z?s=128&p=8&c=1&nid=3628786

Pat Patterson 3* (highly underrated) WR out of Mississippi (Down to Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi, Southern Miss, and Tennessee)
http://oregon.scout.com/a.z?s=128&p=8&c=1&nid=2750843

I guess Kelly was trying to do some last second swaying.

Aren't there rumors floating around that Charles and Patterson are both waiting to see where Tajh Boyd ends up? We are quickly running out of schollies...

Yeah I heard that if Boyd commits to Oregon, they might drop one of their upcoming visits to visit Oregon. Time is running out, let's hope we hear something in the next couple of days on Boyd.

Kinda worried that he is recruiting Patterson. Seems like he knows something we don't, since it seems like we have very legit shots at at least four WR's. Probly just paranoid tho

I heard he is very underrated and should probably be rated higher than 3*'s, so obviously there is something there Kelly likes.

I agree.

Patterson is the most underrated WR. His catch in the Army AA game was unbelievable, and he had a couple nice catches where he got 5-10 yards after the catch.

I really like his style as a WR, wherever he goes I think he will do great.

PP is way better than a 3 star. Unfortunately, I don't think we will land him.

Charles doesnt want to play H-Back and that was the big issue with Charles and Oregon. Patterson is a legit 4-star WR and I'd be shocked if he didnt end up one by the time final rankings come around.

Yeah to question the recruiting of a player based solely on the number of stars a website gives someone isn't a great idea...

Quite frankly (and hopefully simply) there are just too many kids, too many programs, too many states, too many guys at similar levels, too many different systems using players differently, too many coaches promoting their players, too many all-star games, and too few ways to get perfectly accurate info on speed, strength, height, weight, etc. to perfectly rank every kid in the country.

A better litnus test is WHO is recruiting them, and in Chip Kelly, Mike Bellotti, and Oregon's case, it says that the kid is pretty damn good.

I know absolutely nothing about the guy, but if we want him, I'm good w/ it.

The indicator I go off to decide if a recruit is top prospect is based on this:

1. How many offers does he have? If the guy has more than 5 I believe that hes going to be pretty solid player.
2. How many BCS offfers does he have? his is more important than overall offers. I'd rather take a guy who has offers from Cal, Oregon, BSU, and Stanford than I would over a guy with offers from Oregon, Idaho, Fresno State, San Jose, Arizona, Tulsa, Wyoming, BYU, Utah State.
2.B If he is very low on his offers, has he committed and if so? If he committed early, before Summer, most schools stay away unless hes a top 50 recruit.
3. What type of level of play does he play against in HS?

So TK thinks that we don't have much of a shot at Patterson, what do you think Mops?
