diante jackson said he ran an 11 flat in the 100, 22.7 in the 200, and jumped 22 10 and a half in the long jump as a junior. is that good? also he said he loves to block, sounds like a great wr for oregon!

The lack of blazing fast top end speed is why Diante is rated a 4-star player instead of a 5-star, similar to the way Michael Clay would be rated higher than he already is if he was a tad bit bigger. Diante is fast enough to cause some major damage, he just isn't a track star type in the mold of Jamere Holland.

For a comparison, I see an old Scout article on Holland from his high school days that discusses him setting a meet record in the 100m dash by running it in 10.36 seconds.

grant for 2010 that's a guy with the top end speed

Jordan Kent runs the 100 in 10.4s and 200 in 20.8s

Mops and I have said this many times, but I think Diante really got the low end of the scout, rivals, and ESPN rankings.

From watching his highlights, he is a top 15 WR in the country IMO. I think the reason he was ranked so low was because of his lack of yard after catch. He seems to go down easily, and if he gets the ball in his hands with a player or 2 in front of him, he doesn't seem to do much. However, he does a great job of getting open, and once he gets by you, he's gone. Also has great set of hands.

Boy, we can surely use his "great set of hands"! Welcome Diante!

That Oklahoma State WR, Dez Bryant, who killed us in the bowl game only ran a 4.6 40 in high school. Larry Fitzgerald isn't a burner either. I think to be a great reciever you have to great ball skills, hands, route running, and quickness, and I saw a lot of those skills in Diante's highlight video. He could be that go to reciever that we haven't had since Demetrius Williams.

Didn't Jerry Rice run like a 4.8?

Rice ran a 4.55, Fitzgerald a 4.46.

4.6 isn't exactly slow. Given the right blocks a 4.6 will easily score some TD's. I think DJ will be a great WR for us.

he may not be a 4.3 guy, but he does have burners.

DJ will get much faster once he gets to Eugene & gets into Coach Rad's training program. Look at Jstew's Rivals profile, his 40 time is an Event Confirmed 4.59. Not very fast. As we know JStew came here & became one of the fastest players on the team. I would expect DJ's 40 time to become quit a bit faster, around 4.4 range.
