There's a story on Scout about Chris Metcalf, a safety who was committed to USC but didn't sign on NLOI day. He's also now listed as a prospect and has Oregon on his list. Is he possibly thinking about changing his commitment and is Oregon in serious contention for him?

My guess is that he is having issues qualifying.

I think he's from the same scholl as Justin Brown so maybe there's a connection. I would definitely welcome him here, looks like a great player.

Metcalf grew up in a Trojan family. He lives with his Uncle and Aunt, and plays football with his cousin, Justin Brown, who also is looking to play for USC

Maybe he is reconsidering USC since they signed 4 other safeties in this class and he might look for a program where he could find playing time earlier. Also, playing with his cousin could be attractiong. Oregon would seem like a good fit since we are kind of low at the safety positions. This could also be nothing and just him waiting to get some things cleared up.

Not only did SC sign 4 safeties they signed 3 of the top 5 in the country. Maybe he see's the writing on the wall and UO has a little less log jam.

WHOA!? Him and Justin Brown are cousins? That could be huge for Oregon, look what happened with Diante and his cousin Avery...

Interesting. We could add a little seasoned insurance at safety. Wonder what will happen with metcalf.

My only concern would be if the staff feels like they have room for him and Brown. Reason I bring this is up is because 2010 is going to be our banner year as the west is loaded with talent and we are in on some national guys as well and we will have a very limited amount of offers to give next season.

Mops said 17 most likely. But as little as 15 is a real possibility.
