Yep, Amir to SJU. I'm a little more surprised on this one, but that's 4 recruits we've lost to SJU (harkless, pelle, garrett, and polee). And these weren't just guys who showed interest in both schools, most of these guys had oregon and SJU as their final 2/3 teams.

That's 3 very solid four start prospects and a 5 star prospect. I wonder what would have happened if Lavin came to Oregon.

They should rename the school SFU for Small Forward University.

Don't think we ever really had a chance at Harkless. Polee was definitely unexpected. With Garrett, he seemed to really like SJ, the only question was their depth chart. Anyone else think that Mike Dunlap is partaking in negative recruiting?

Nice pickup for St. John's. I think Garrett is going to be an excellent player.

You have to think that a few of these guys are going to transfer due to lack of playing time though.

Harkless was scheduled to visit Oregon, officially in mid september. It was his only visit set up, but he ended up committing to SJU about a week before the visit. Very similar to the Pelle situation.

Screw St Johns. It's going to be funny when a lot of these players hardly get any playing time.

It's a good thing we probably won't have to deal with Lavin on the recruiting trail for another couple years.

You're right, I completely forgot about that. I guess the situations are slightly different though since Harkless is from the Northeast. Lavin has done a terrific job recruiting the West Coast. Hopefully, he'll start focusing more on the Northeast as he becomes more acclimated to the area.

I definitely don't get this if I'm a player, especially SF. SJU has 8 commits now, 5 of which are 6'6' - 6'8' and weigh 185 lbs. My assumption is that Lavin just went for best athletes he could get knowing that 3 of these are going to transfer in a couple years and he'll have those 3 schollies to use then.
I just can't believe we couldn't get Garrett since he seemed to like it here, location is closer to home, and it's a position of need.

You would think people would see their depth chart and not want to be there but Lavin is sort of a snakeoil salesman when it comes to recruiting so I doubt this level of recruiting will continue.

Native tribesman in certain parts of the world accomplish the same effect with bovine excrement...

"A number of hair loss treatments over the years have included the use of animal excrement. The Legends of America website notes that people were once told to smear their heads with fresh cow manure to treat baldness or thinning hair. Helium.com notes that the Vikings had a prescription for baldness that called for rubbing goose droppings into the scalp. It reports ancient Egyptians had a hair treatment that used a mix of honey, beer, boiled wheat and goat dung. The website reports that goat dung was added to the mixture in an effort to fool the gods into believing you were a goat to save your hair."

It makes no sense to me to take 4 SF's in one class, and 6 total forwards. No point guards or centers in the class for St Johns. I will be shocked if everyone stays and someone like Garrett doesn't eventually get upset if he doesn't get a lot of playing time.
